Denver Broncos’ playoff journey came to an end on Saturday, as they were defeated by the Buffalo Bills with a score of 31-7. Despite the loss, making it to the playoffs was a significant achievement for them, and head coach Sean Payton took time to express his appreciation for rookie quarterback Bo Nix

The Wild-Card game undoubtedly highlighted the areas where the team needs to improve, but they took solace in one key decision: selecting Nix as the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft was absolutely the right choice. And as head coach Payton addressed the media on Wednesday, he has nothing but good words to say for the rookie star.

I know this, he’s very conscientious… I think it’s all in front of him. I’ve said this before, I think we’ve found that player that can lead us and be what we need relative to having the success that we’re used to having. I think we found him.

In addition to praising Nix, Payton also highlighted areas of improvement that the rookie quarterback recognizes, such as his performance on third-down plays and pressure snaps. But he is confident that it wouldn’t be much trouble and is “encouraged” to have a good future for the franchise with him as the quarterback.

GM George Paton praises Bo Nix’s resilience and work ethic in rookie season

Despite the typical challenges in his debut season, he posted an impressive total of 29 touchdown passes, which ranked among the highest ever recorded by a rookie quarterback. In addition to that, he also ranked himself among the top five rookie quarterbacks in the NFL’s history to record 3,775 yards in his debut season.

The Broncos head coach wasn’t the only one speaking highly of the 24-year-old. General Manager George Paton appreciated Nix’s resilience and hard work as he navigated his rookie season.

He never flinched; we’d be behind in games, we always came back, we didn’t always win them, but you’re always looking for that ‘it’ factor. He’s been here, you’re like ‘Bo, you’ve got to take a break,’ [but] he’s here today, he was here yesterday.

George Paton told the reporters on Wednesday

Fortunately, the Broncos, who believe to have found their franchise quarterback, can use the upcoming draft as an opportunity to build a strong roster. With Nix on a rookie contract, the franchise also has the flexibility in the salary cap to enable them to revamp the team as they are determined to come back even stronger next year.
