Boxing has historically been more profitable for fighters than MMA due to the different business models present. Top boxers earn way more than top UFC fighters, creating a financial gap that often draws attention from global fans. This has prompted many UFC stars to try boxing, and recently, Sean Strickland shared his intentions to do the same against Jake Paul.

Strickland has fought top contenders for over a decade, delivering brutal wars while risking everything inside the UFC’s unforgiving octagon cage. Despite earning respect and briefly capturing gold, he’s voiced frustrations about financial compensation not matching the risks he consistently undertakes. Recently, while speaking on stream with Adin Ross, Strickland expressed interest in boxing Jake Paul to secure a major payday.

Paul started as a YouTuber but moved into boxing, where he initially got mocked but is now one of the biggest names. He picked smart fights that fans wanted to see, taking on retired, famous UFC fighters and boxing legends like Mike Tyson himself. Each fight made him more famous, even if people watched just to see him lose or win again spectacularly.

On the other hand, Strickland is infamous for his trash-talking and controversial opinions on various topics that spark constant backlash. He shocked everyone by defeating Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 and becoming the middleweight champion in a stunning performance. However, he lost his title and has already lost twice to the champion Dricus Du Plessis in decisive fashion.

Despite his recent losses, Strickland does have a huge fan base who would love to see him fight Paul next. The back and forth between both superstars has the potential to lead to various highlights and earn massive pay-per-view. However, Strickland is under UFC’s contract and Paul is done dealing with UFC fighters who can’t negotiate for themselves freely.

Throughout his career, Jake Paul has had beef with UFC CEO Dana White and many of its fighters over fighter pay. While he has fought and defeated veterans such as Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva, Paul has also indicated wanting to face active UFC fighters. In the past, he called out former UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for a boxing bout, but it never materialized.

Using social media and his trash-talking abilities, Paul sold pay-per-views and made millions by building hype around every fight. From getting mocked at first to getting called out for easy fight purses, Paul has had quite a journey. Mike Perry, who previously fought ‘The Problem Child’ and lost, praised the boxer for his success during his recent Pound 4 Pound Podcast.

He’s consistent with his camp. He’s paying his camp well. He’s got the best training that he can buy with his money around him. To prepare for a boxing match… We had to give him credit. He has gotten a lot better. Is he a professional contender? No! But I will say this about Jake Paul. Jake’s pretty good. Nobody will give him credit. That’s fine. I’d like to get a better chance to take it from him.

Paul recently was close to signing a contract with top boxer Canelo Alvarez before Saudi promoter Turki Alalshikh interfered. Following this, Paul accused the Mexican fighter for chasing money which led to an online dispute. Nevertheless, it definitely proved the amount of influence Paul has on the current boxing scenario.
