It will be the second time both fighters will trade punches, with DDP winning their previous bout. However, this time, the ‘Tarzan’ has a different proposal for the champion to make it more interesting.
Dricus Du Plessis showcased his wrestling dominance during his first title defense against Israel Adesanya, securing a vital victory. Strickland, preparing for their upcoming fight, has expressed his desire to avoid wrestling as the deciding factor at UFC 312. In a bold challenge, Strickland urged Du Plessis to keep the fight exclusively on the feet.

Sean Strickland made this proposal leveraging the masculinity factor and asked DDP to refrain from taking him down and submissions. Though the ‘Tarzan’ frequently trains his wrestling, it seems like it doesn’t want to get to the ground with the South African. In their first bout, Du Plessis was declared the winner via split decision, which Strickland had called a ‘robbery.’ According to ‘Tarzan,’ he was robbed due to corrupt judges in Canada. This time, the fight is going to take place in Australia and it would be interesting to see whether there is a different outcome.

If I’m going to give the edge to anyone, it’d be Dricus in that fight, even though Sean will definitely try and walk him down and get him worn out. But one thing about Dricus is he’s just awkward. Dricus Du Plessis doesn’t necessarily have a particular pattern to his wins. The fighter just shows up, does weird things, and finds a way to win against top fighters. His unpredictability has become his biggest strength, and Strickland must be cautious at UFC 312.
