America’s Sebastian Korda is out of the Monte-Carlo Masters after losing his second-round match to World No.2 Jannik Sinner in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. But before the match, Korda reportedly was robbed of a whopping €300,000 watch sponsored by Richard Mille.

As per many reports, the robbery took place on April 4, a few days before his match against Sinner. Near the Avenue Varavilla Roquerbrune-Cap-Martin, when Korda was walking down a staircase, two thieves on scooters with faces covered with helmets snatched the Richard Mille watch from the American.

The robbers did not harm the 23-year-old as, just a few days later, he played his first match in The Principality. After the robbery, Korda reported to Menton police, and they started searching for the robbers.

The luxury watchmaker Richard Mille has made Korda its ambassador. Notably, Korda was wearing an RM 67-02, Automatic Widing Extra Flat sport watch. The brand also sponsors 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal and Korda’s two sisters, Nelly and Jessica, both of whom are professional golf players. Nadal often wears the RM 27-02 Tourbillon, which costs over $1 million.

Despite losing his watch and match, Sebastian Korda was ecstatic after meeting Dutch DJ Martin Garrix

Dutch DJ Martin Garris watched the match between Sebastian Korda and Jannik Sinner. And though the American lost the match and his €300,000 worth of luxury watch, he was quite ecstatic after getting the chance to interact with the DJ.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love this guy.

Prior to this year’s Monte-Carlo Masters, Korda achieved his best at this tournament by reaching the fourth round in 2022 after defeating Carlos Alcaraz. Korda started his campaign in The Principality this year by beating 2022 finalist Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.

As the 23-year-old’s time in Monaco ended in disappointment, he will next try his luck at the ATP 250 tournament in Bucharest, Romania. He won just one career title, at the 2021 Emilia-Romagna Open. Korda gave his best performance at a Grand Slam event by reaching the 2023 Australian Open quarterfinals.
