In Short
  • Sebastian Korda won his semifinal match against Flavio Cobolli at the Delray Beach Open, improving his head-to-head record to 3-0.
  • During the post-match interview, emcee Michelle Yu mistakenly said "s*x" instead of "success," prompting a humorous response from Korda.
  • Korda will face Tommy Paul in the final, marking his second appearance in the Delray Beach Open final.

Sebastian Korda understood it perfectly well when the emcee at the Delray Beach Open made a big slip-up after his semifinal match against Flavio Cobolli on Saturday (February 21). Korda registered a 7-6(1), 6-1 win to improve his head-to-head record to 3-0 over the Italian ace.

Prior to their latest meeting, Korda defeated Cobolli at the 2024 Italian Open and in the final of the Citi Open the same year. After his 77-minute win over the 23-year-old, emcee Michelle Yu interviewed him, and while asking him about his perfect head-to-head lead over Cobolli, she made an embarrassing blunder.

You’ve played Flavio three times, and you’ve had s*x – success with him all three times. Why is it that you have had such success against Flavio?

Yu could do nothing in that situation and could not stop herself from laughing. Although she was quick to rectify her mistake, Korda had a humorous response ready: “He’s a good-looking guy, so you know (laughs)“.

I think it was a great match. I think I served pretty well. I didn’t have too many pressure situations on my serve, and that opens up the returns. I think I played a great tie-breaker, and then after that, I just started feeling the ball a little bit better, returning a little better, and put some pressure on him.

Sebastian Korda said at the press conference

In the final, Korda will be up against compatriot Tommy Paul in what will also be an all-American Delray Beach Open final. Paul overcame 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals champion Learner Tien 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

That’s where you want to be, especially here in the States. You want these American finals, and it’s definitely going to be an American final, so it’s going to be exciting for sure.

Sebastian Korda added

Korda has met Paul six times and trails 2-4 in the head-to-head matchups. They last met in the semifinal of the 2024 Queen’s Club Championships, the result of which ended in the 28-year-old’s favor. Paul will also be playing the final of the home tournament for the second time in his career. Back in 2024, he lost the title clash to compatriot Taylor Fritz.

The World No.24, who has reached his eighth singles final, is chasing his fifth title. The last time he won a title was at the 2024 Stockholm Open by defeating Grigor Dimitrov.

Prior to the Delray Beach Open, Korda lost to Zachary Svajda in the final of the San Diego Challengers and participated in the Dallas Open, where eventual runner-up Fritz knocked him out in the quarterfinals. Korda started his campaign for the Brisbane International, losing to compatriot Alex Michelsen.

He then suffered an opening-round exit at the Adelaide International and the Australian Open. Following the Delray Beach Open, Korda will be participating in the Mexican Open and will kick off his campaign against Italy’s Mattia Bellucci.
