Sebastian Korda gives credit to his mother Regina for his run at the ATP Miami Open 2021

Sebastian Korda, the World No. 87 has been off to a flyer in the 2021 season. The American started by reaching 2 finals in the month of January, winning the Quimper 1 in France. He has followed it up with consistent performances and recently made a great run at the 2021 Miami Open going out in the quarter-finals to World No. 8 Andrey Rublev.
The American star had an amazing run beating 3 seeded players on his way to the quarter-final to set up the clash for the place in semis with the 4th seeded Andrey Rublev. It has been one very good week for the 20-year old Sebastian Korda who played some of the best tennis of his career so far.
“I kind of feel comfortable playing against these bigger guys. This week showed me that I can keep up and play with the biggest names in tennis. So it was a really positive week, both in singles and in doubles. I had a lot of fun in doubles with my partner, Michael Mmoh. I will take a lot from this and hopefully I can play some good tennis on the clay now,” said Sebastian Korda.
But, what stood out has been the youngster’s temperament during the games, staying calm and focused during the length of the tournament. Korda credited his emotional composure to his mother Regina Rajchrtová, former WTA player who ranked 26 at the peak of her career.
“I try to use it to my favour,” says Sebastian Korda on not showing his emotions during the matches

Sebastian talked about the role of his mother in keeping his cool on the court. “I think ever since I was a kid, my mom was really big into kind of having a poker face on court and not showing any negative emotions. Obviously, positive emotions are always great, but I think my mom was really big on that.”
“I have her to thank for that, because I think it’s a really [a] big strength for me that the opponent doesn’t really know what’s happening on the other side of the court. I try to use it to my favour.” said Korda.
Sebastian Korda is set to return to Bradenton, Florida, for recovering from a groin injury, which according to him “is the result of playing plenty of matches this year”. He is expected to see a huge jump in his ranking and can break into the Top 70 after the updated rankings will be out on Monday.
