Michigan received a helping hand from one of their former players to land the No. 1 recruit of the 2025 class, quarterback Bryce Underwood. It was none other than legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady.
According to reports from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the 46-year-old Brady played a deeper part in pursuing Underwood to flip from LSU to the Wolverines. Zenitz revealed that Brady spoke with the Bellville High School graduate through FaceTime in the last few weeks.
There was doubt whether the Wolverines would be successful in luring Underwood considering their 5-5 horror show this year. Even with Tom Brady trying his best to woo him, LSU looked the better team on paper and he committed back very early this year.
Underwood visited the Michigan facility in Ann Arbor and shadowed head coach Sherrone Moore during practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. He also learned how things operate inside the facility and sat in the team meetings.
Michigan then dropped the bomb on everyone by announcing that Bryce Underwood de-committed from LSU to join the Wolverines. Of course, the higher-ups enticed him with a $10 million NIL deal, which could rise to $15 million. Brady remains silent about his involvement in the flip.

Why did Tom Brady help Michigan acquire Bryce Underwood?
Any alumni would want his alma mater to be the best, and Tom Brady is no different. Brady was part of the Michigan setup in the late ‘90s. He spent the first two seasons of his college career as a third-choice backup before breaking into the ranks due to injuries to the quarterbacks ahead of him in the pecking order.
The New England Patriots eventually selected Brady in the sixth round, and he became the backup to Drew Bledsoe. Following a season-ending injury to Bledsoe, the Patriots handed the starter’s job to Brady, and he repaid them back with six Super Bowls. He retired in 2023, adding another ring but wearing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers colors.

Brady these days covers games for FOX Sports but did not forget his love for Michigan. Underwood is considered to be a generational talent who can start from his rookie year. He can be the hometown hero that every team desires, as he hails from Belleville, Michigan, barely half an hour’s drive from the Big House.
However, Underwood’s addition sounded the alarm bells for Davis Warren and Jadyn Davis, who might flip if they don’t see game time in the future.
