The New York Rangers are recently stealing the spotlight on the internet. The first shock came as they traded their captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, and secondly, signed goalie Igor Shesterkin to a $92 million deal.

However, that’s not all. The Rangers were also caught up in a rumor to be aiming for Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk in a trade. The Senators didn’t waste time to pour cold water over the speculations, reiterating how important Tkachuk is for the team.

During an interview with Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen, Senators GM Steve Staios called the rumors “total garbage.” However, he wasn’t the only one to give that response.

An industry source further told Postmedia that the speculation of a trade for Brady Tkachuk is “total bulls**t”, while another called it “garbage.” The Sens VP of Communication, Ian Mendes, gave a hilarious response to the situation. He simply posted the synonym of “whopper” as “untruth” on social media.

The initial boost to the rumors came from a NY Post report which suggested that the NY Rangers may go for Tkachuk after the trade of Jacob Trouba. However, neither the Sens nor the player are ready to leave Ottawa anytime soon.

In fact, Ottawa Senators President of Hockey Operations Steve Staios has been adding players around Tkachuk to help the captain and the team in winning the Stanley Cup. In a recent splash, they inked Linus Ullmark from Boston Bruins to a 4-year $33 million extension.

Tkachuk is not going anywhere for quite a while. He’s the center of the team with players like Tim Stutzle, Josh Norris, Jake Sanderson, Thomas Chabot, Shane Pinto, and Ridly Greig around him.

Social media reacts to Brady Tkachuk-NY Rangers trade rumors

After his brother Matthew Tkachuk won the Stanley Cup last season, Brady Tkachuk is determined to help his team to postseason success. He even expressed his frustration over not getting the Cup on the big stage, saying he’s “sick and tired of losing.” This time around the aim is to make it to the finals of the postseason and win the Cup, just like his brother.

While the fans did not believe in the rumors, they surely were confused by the news outbreak. Many, on the other hand, took it lightly as one commented, “Cook these fools.” Another said, “Not happening. Unless Brady forces it.” Check more reactions below:

Currently, the forward is leading the team with 13 goals and 29 points in 25 games this season. He has time and again made his commitment known to the NHL world and the Senators are heavily surrounded by him.
