Even though Novak Djokovic, with 17 Grand Slams to his name, is one of the greatest the sport has ever witnessed, it is a shame that he doesn’t have much of a fan following when compared to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. It was evident again yesterday when the 33-year old Serb was playing his first-round match at the French Open 2020.
While he was going through his usual business of decimating the opponents, during the third set, Djokovic looked angry at a spectator who had donned a Roger Federer cap. Seeded no.1 at Roland Garros, Djokovic gave a fierce look to the man after he lost a point. However, the Serb did not let the incident overpower him as he shrugged off his anger by giving the spectator a flying kiss.

Djokovic advances to the second round with an easy win

During the post-match interview, Djokovic revealed that the spectator wearing the cap named Roger Federer was actually his childhood friend. “I sent him a kiss, was happy to see him there,” said Djokovic after the match got over.
Talking about the contest, it was a usual ‘Novak Djokovic’ match as he lost just five games en route to demolishing Mikael Ymer in straight sets 6-0, 6-2, 6-3. He is due to play Ricardas Berankis in the next round. Djokovic is one of the favourites alongside Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem to lift the French Open trophy this year.
