Coco Gauff stunned on the red carpet of the 2025 Oscars in Los Angeles, with a distinct fashion that brought out her elegance. The Former US Open champion reunited with tennis legend and her idol Serena Williams at the prestigious Academy Awards event. She was accompanied by her mother, Candi, who has been her ardent supporter.

The World No.3 has been away from the court since her second round loss to fellow compatriot McCartney Kessler at the Dubai Tennis Championships. The American star is in California ahead of the Indian Wells Open which kicks off on March 5. However, she graced the Oscars red carpet and was amongst the big names in the movie industry.

The 20-year-old wore a custom yellow MiuMiu gown with crystal embroidery for the ceremony. She then later changed into a yellow and green for the famous Vanity Fair After Party. It was there she met Serena Williams. She shared a photo alongside the 73 career titles champion and 23-time Grand Slam winner.

It was the first famous event that Serena Williams has graced since the Super Bowl. The former World No.1 played a role in the Kendrick Lamar half-time show in the blockbuster NFL game. The tennis legend retired from the sport at the 2022 US Open and has since focused her attention on her family and her several business ventures.

On the other hand, Gauff recently suffered a dipping form in her career. The WTA Finals champion has won four matches and lost three this season. In fact, she has lost three of her last four matches. She failed to win a single match in the Middle East swing losing to players below the Top 10.

Coco Gauff shared a picture with acting great and former award presenter Samuel L. Jackson during the Oscars red carpet event on Sunday (March 2). The World No.3 was then interviewed by the Oscars ambassador and interviewer Amelia Dimoldenberg before the ceremony got started.

She was asked how she prepared for the event. Gauff replied that she was not used to the fashion of the event as she’s a tennis player.

It was a lot. The air, make-up, the whole do – I play tennis so I’m not used to this glam, but it’s nice to get dressed for the day.

She was also asked about the competitive nature of the movie industry in comparison with the WTA Tour. Gauff revealed that she’s a competitive person but mostly on the court.

Definitely [a competitive person], but more like when it comes to on court stuff. Off the court, like board games and stuff, of course. UNO, like, I get a lot of fights for that, but with this [the ceremony], I’m just here for the vibes, just enjoying it, and just trying to take it all in.

Gauff will now hope to reorganize ahead of the Indian Wells Masters. The former World No.2 reached the semifinals of the event last year and will be aiming to take a step further by winning the title for the first time in her career.
