The Australian Open 2021, is just about 20 days away from it’s scheduled start, February 8. The players are slowly starting their preparations for the Grandslam event. In Adelaide, Serena Williams and Venus Williams completed their first training session of 2021, ahead of the Australian Open.

The Adelaide Bubble was designed specifically for top three male and female ranked players along with Serena Williams who are scheduled to play an exhibition event in the city on January 29. However, an update later allowed players to bring their hitting partners along, which is the reason why the Williams sisters can train together. Patrick Mouratoglou, coach of Serena Williams accompanied the duo during their practice session.

Serena Williams chases her 24th Grandslam title

Serena Williams has come agonizingly close to winning her 24th Grandslam title and equal Margaret Court’s record of most majors won. However, she has more often than not failed at the last hurdle. Her last major came at the Australian Open 2017, when she defeated her sister, Venus Williams in straight sets in the finals to lift her seventh title in Melbourne.

As for Venus Williams, she has never won a singles title at the Australian Open, having ended as the runner-up on two occasions in 2003 and 2017. Incidentally, both her losses have come against Serena Williams. However, Venus has claimed four Australian Open Women’s doubles title, alongside Serena Williams and also has a mixed doubles title with Justin Gimelstob.
