Will Olympia Ohanian, one day, become a tennis star like her mom Serena Williams? Although it will be up to her to decide which career path she will choose, her athletics skills amaze Williams and her sister Venus Williams. 

Olympia was in Williams’ belly when the former tennis star did the nearly impossible thing of winning the 2017 Australian Open, and the story doesn’t fail to amuse and inspire the fans. This child, who is now six years old, has displayed skills, which, in her mama’s eyes are incredible.

Williams is grateful to her father, Richard Williams, who saw potential in her and Venus and pushed them to achieve their goals. She feels she would’ve been “devasted” if her dad hadn’t pushed her, and so expressed her surprise at how he was able to do that. For the same reason, the 23-time Grand Slam champion respects her “father and mother so much.”

Williams joked that whenever she sees her children, she doesn’t want them to work hard and wants them to relax, and admitted that it’s hard for her to give that extra push to her daughters.

Serena Williams wants her father to train Olympia Ohanian 

Serena Williams understands the parenting duty of protecting the kids so that they don’t have to work extremely hard like her and, at the same time, make them responsible. She is soft with her kids, which is why she wants to hand over the responsibility to her father, Richard Williams, to train Olympia as he did with her and sister Venus Williams.

I have already told my father: 'Maybe you should train her because I'm so nice to her.' I think this is an interesting debate that many parents need to think about. You try to outdo yourself to a certain extent so that your children don't have to try too hard. But you also want them to achieve their goals.

Williams married entrepreneur and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in 2017. After the birth of Olympia, they welcomed their second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, in 2023. 

The 42-year-old former tennis star bid farewell to the sport in September 2022 after last featuring in the US Open.
