Serena Williams criticized her ‘haters’ for claiming that she had bleached her skin. The controversy erupted because of a video she recorded when she was at a school event with her husband Alexis Ohanian and their two daughters, Olympia and Adira.

On December 2, Williams went live on Instagram to talk about her beauty brand WYN Beauty. While doing a make-up tutorial, the 43-year-old decided to open up about the controversy and rubbished the rumors of her lightening her skin.

And then I put just that neutral color, that is actually my skin color, and no, for you haters out there, I do not bleach my skin. There’s this thing called sunlight, and in that sunlight, you get different colors. Yes, I’m calling you out on this because it is ridiculous. Everyone’s like, ‘Oh, she bleached her skin.’ I’m a dark-skinned Black woman, and I love who I am and how I look.

Williams also explained that her skin looked lighter in the aforementioned video just because she was wearing ‘stage makeup’. Though Williams has admitted she never bleached her skin, she doesn’t have any problems with those who have done it.

And if people do it, that’s their thing, and they have every opportunity and they should. I don’t judge, but you guys do. But that’s what this world is about, and I stay in my lane- the no-judgy one and I keep it.

Williams also talked about mental health problems she faced earlier in her career because of the media as she claimed they accused her of using performance-enhancing drugs.

Serena Williams used breast milk to treat sunburn

In December last year, Serena Williams, who welcomed daughter Adira in August, learned about a unique way of treating the sunburn under her eye. On TikTok, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, while dabbing a cloth under her eye, revealed she was putting breast milk on her burns and it worked.

So, I completely got burnt under my eye…don’t ask. I have sensitive skin. I was in the sun. Long story. Any way, I’m trying some breast milk. It works for my kid.
