Serena Williams has answered that if she thinks Carlos Alcaraz has a chance of breaking Novak Djokovic’s Grand Slam record on tour. The former World No.1 noted that she’s a big fan of the Spaniard, as Alcaraz continues to impress on the court this season and currently sits at the top of the ATP rankings.
Alcaraz has made excellent strides in his career and has won six Grand Slams so far. He claimed his first major title at the US Open in 2022 after beating Casper Ruud and then claimed his second at the Wimbledon Championships the following year. He then earned his first French Open title in 2024 and defended his SW19 title that same season.
This season, he claimed the French Open and US Open titles and now stands a chance of completing the Career Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January 2026. Should Alcaraz win the Australian Open next year, he will become the youngest man in the Open Era to win all four major tournaments.
However, certainly, Alcaraz has a long way to go before reaching Djokovic’s 24 Grand Slam record. The 38-year-old won his last major title at the 2023 US Open after beating Daniil Medvedev. Since then, Djokovic has managed to reach only one final, with Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner currently dominating the Grand Slam stages.
23-time Grand Slam winner, Williams was in Spain this week for the prestigious Princess of Asturias Awards, where she will receive recognition for her sporting achievements. During her press conference, she praised Alcaraz for his performances on the court and added that he can break Djokovic’s major title record:
Of course, I know it [Spanish tennis] well — the Spanish have been at the top for a long time. There’s Rafa [Nadal], of course, but there are many other wonderful tennis players. Alcaraz is doing incredible things. I’m a huge fan of Alcaraz. I always cheer him on. When Federer started, no one thought he could surpass [Pete] Sampras, and he did. Then Rafa did the same, and then Djokovic. Carlos is very young, he has great rivals, but of course it’s possible.
Alcaraz’s last tour-level match was at the ATP 500 tournament in Tokyo, where he won the title. He’s currently in Paris for the Masters 1000 tournament. He has never won the title in his career and has never reached the last four.
Jessica Pegula reacts to the whopping prize money that Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic earned at the Six Kings Slam
Jessica Pegula recently shared her thoughts on the Six Kings Slam prize money. Carlos Alcaraz competed at the tournament, alongside Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, and others. Each player was awarded $1.5 million for a participation fee, while the winner, Sinner, claimed a whopping $6 million.

Alcaraz reached the final of the event but lost to Sinner 2-6, 4-6. In an episode of the Players’ Box podcast, Pegula discussed the prize money with Jennifer Brady. The former World No.3 revealed that the prize money is insane and added that if that was offered to her should would have competed at the tournament as well:
The prize money is insane… 1.5million for showing up. Winner gets 6 million, 1.5 million to just show up, I don’t think I’d say no!
Alcaraz has surpassed $50 million in career prize money, after having won the US Open in September. He’s currently the player with the highest number of titles this season – eight in total. He’s also the only player to win three Masters 1000 this season and will hope to add to the tally at the Paris Masters.
