Coco Gauff enjoyed a fabulous end to the 2024 season after winning two titles in two months. The American now has another major challenge next year, which is to continue with the form. Serena Williams’ ex-coach, Rennae Stubbs, revealed that she is backing the 20-year-old to win the 2025 Australian Open.
Gauff endured a poor run in the summer after failing to reach a final. She also failed to defend either the Cincinnati Open or the US Open losing in the early round of the two tournaments. However, she did well to bounce back in time at the China Open in October. The former US Open champion defeated Karolina Muchova in straight sets to win the WTA 1000 title in Beijing.
She didn’t back down after that and reached the semifinals of the Wuhan Open. At the WTA Finals, she played her best tennis, defeating Qinwen Zheng in the final and winning the title for the first time in her career. But, Gauff has a mountain to climb at the Australian Open. In January this year, she lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
Nevertheless, Rennae Stubbs revealed that the World No.3 preparation for AO, gives her an edge over other players to win the title. The 53-year-old added that Gauff finishing the year on a high gives her a good advantage at Melbourne next year.
Also, Coco Gauff parted ways with Brad Gilbert in September after huge criticism about her poor serves. She appointed Matt Daly to be her coach, and there has been an impressive development on that part of her game. Hopefully, with the preseason, she will be able to consolidate on the progress.
Rennae Stubbs makes huge prediction about Jasmine Paolini’s career
Jasmine Paolini had a breakthrough 2024 season after an impressive run in Grand Slam events. The Italian recorded her biggest career title in Dubai after winning the WTA 1000 title. She then reached two consecutive Grand Slam finals at the French Open and the Wimbledon Championship.
During the aforementioned podcast, Rennae Stubbs revealed that Paolini being 28-year-old still has a few more years of high-level competitive tennis left in her. The former doubles player also tipped her to be in the Top 10 for the entirety of the 2025 season.
Paolini began the 2024 season as World No.29 she ended the year as No.4, a remarkable improvement from the Italian. She will open her 2025 campaign at the Adelaide International which begins on January 6.
