Alexis Ohanian has always revealed his happiness on social media when sharing events about his daughters and wife, Serena Williams. The Reddit co-founder has not had time to share those feelings recently as he has been in a hospital bed. He wrote details about a recent health scare that made him remove half his thyroid.
In an Instagram post, Ohanian revealed he had half of his thyroid removed a few days ago. The 41-year-old shared a photo of himself in a bed with a gown, cap, and a significant scar on his neck that showed signs of the operation. He narrated that the removal was due to some suspicious nodules on his throat for the last 4 years.
However, the nodules have continued to grow over the years, and after a recent biopsy, it showed that there was a large probability of becoming cancerous. Ohanian had to take preventive measures by removing it. He added in the caption that cancer runs in his family line and that the seriousness needed an urgent operation.
My mom had breast cancer around this age (41) and then ultimately died from brain cancer a decade or so later. I hate cancer. I wasn’t gonna take any chances; the surgery was smooth and I’m extra grateful this Thanksgiving because I got the call this morning that my now-removed-half-of-thyroid was indeed full of some gnarly nodules that were very likely to become cancerous.

Ohanian surgery comes months after revealing he was diagnosed of Lyme disease after an undergoing a full body scan. In the aforementioned post, he included the picture of his kids, Olympia and Adira, 7 and 1 years old, respectively. Hopefully, the businessman will get to reunite with his family soon.

Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams married in 2017, two years after they began dating. The couple’s older daughter, Olympia, was born a couple of months before their wedding. The couple was blessed with a second child, Adira River, in August 2023. Ohanian has often revealed on social media how close he is to his two daughters.
In the aforementioned Instagram post, he revealed that he would not be able to lift a thing for two weeks, which is not good news for him as he loves to carry his daughters. He added that, however, he took his girls to Disney World.
The worst part tbh has been not being able to lift for 2 weeks but big fella will be back at it next week and I took my girls to Disney World this week so life is wonderful.

Serena Williams retired from tennis at the 2022 US Open, where she reached the third round of the Grand Slam event. However, his sister, Venus Williams, continues to compete despite being 44 years old.
