Serena Williams was present at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, where she carried the Olympic torch alongside Rafael Nadal. The American legend has stated that it was an unforgettable experience for her.

Despite the rain, the opening carried on strong with athletes from all countries taking boats down river Seine. Williams, wearing a red bodycon dress with a purse, was among the four sporting legends who carried the torch in a boat over the river. Nine-time gold medalist Carl Lewis first held the torch before passing it to her.

Williams then passed the torch to Nadal, who later passed it to former French tennis player Amelie Mauresmo. She took to social media to state that while the experience was unforgettable, the rain caused her eyelashes to come loose at some point.

Have you ever had an unforgettable moment? It was yesterday for me. Truly unforgettable. I participated in the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, I took the boat in the rain, and it was pouring! So much so that my eyelashes came off. Unforgettable!

Williams will be rooting for Team USA to win the majority of the medals at the Games, especially in women’s tennis where the likes of Coco Gauff, Emma Navarro, Danielle Collins, and Jessica Pegula will be featuring in both the singles and doubles.

Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian hilariously reacts to a commentator calling him an umbrella holder

During the opening ceremony, a Eurosport commentator mistakenly referred to Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian as an umbrella holder. The Reddit co-founder was beside his wife and even held an umbrella over her and their daughter, Olympia, which the cameras captured.

“She looks absolutely incredible, she’s got someone just behind us holding an umbrella. Those are the levels you aspire to, to have an actual umbrella holder behind you,”

The commentator said.

The video went viral on social media and eventually reached Ohanian, who saw the funny side of it.

Olympia. Serena. Serena's Personal Umbrella Holder. Let the games begin! I'll be watching a lot of T&F (track and field) to soak up @athlos inspiration.
