Serena Williams avoided questions about her relationship with former US President Donald Trump in a recent interview. The former tennis star was involved in Trump’s hush money trial after it was revealed that she was one of those people he frequently spoke to in 2017.

Last month, Trump was convicted of 34 felony crimes related to hush money and for falsifying business records to pay $130,000 to an adult film star, Stormy Daniels, to keep her silent before the 2016 election about their alleged relationship in 2006.

During the trial, when it emerged that Williams was one of the celebrities on his frequent call list, journalist David Marchese of the New York Times questioned her about the same which took the 23-time Grand Slam champion by surprise. “I mean, is this what this interview is about?” responded Williams.

When the interviewer told her he was curious to know what she talked to Trump, Williams said she had spoken to several presidents.

I talk to a lot of presidents. I spoke to Barack, I spoke to the Clintons. I have spoken to every president since I’ve been alive, including Ronald Reagan, I’ll have you know.
Serena Williams told the New York Times

When the reporter pressed her to reveal the topic of discussion with those presidents, Williams shot back, “I don’t know, I’m not going to go there.

Serena Williams may not be voting in the presidential elections at all, here’s why

Serena Williams has met Donald Trump several times, which she admitted after her fourth-round win at the 2016 French Open. Both Trump and Williams live in Florida and the former even invited her to his new tennis center at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia in 2015.

I have met (Trump) several times, as I live in Palm Beach and everyone in Palm Beach kind of knows each other. I don't get involved in politics. I don't vote. It goes back to my religion, and I'm not involved at all in that political scene.
Serena Williams said at the press conference

Williams, however, may not be voting for Trump or for any candidate in the upcoming presidential election. She is a Jehovah’s Witness and so she abstains from voting.

Most of the people who follow this faith believe in God’s kingdom, so they don’t involve themselves in political activities. Because of her belief, Williams also doesn’t celebrate her and even her daughters’ birthdays.
