Former Masters champion Sergio Garcia is among one of the LIV Golfers who will drive down the Augusta National Golf Course next month in April. Ahead of his start in this event, the Spanish international has expressed his confidence of winning another major championship.
The 45-year-old golfer will be making his 100th major championship start at the Masters Tournament next year. Nearly 18 years after making his debut on the PGA Tour, Garcia finally achieved major glory when he won the Masters in 2017.
While Garcia may not be in his “prime” years, he has had some impressive performances since 2024. He won on the LIV Golf circuit in his home country of Spain and finished third in the Individual standings behind Joaquin Niemann and Jon Rahm.
Those performances has fired him up. Speaking with LIV Golf’s Mike McAllister, the Fireballs GC captain believes that he can win more major championships.
If I have one of those weeks where I’m feeling comfortable and things kind of go my way and everything snowballs in the right direction, yes, for sure. It’s just a matter of trying to get myself in as many (majors) as possible… I feel like my game is still in great shape. Yeah, I could definitely have a chance.

Next month is his 100th major start

Garcia will enter the Masters Tournament as one of the past winners of the event. As for the PGA Championship, he has accepted a special invitation from them.
While Garcia does not have an exemption for the U.S. Open and the Open Championship, he does have a path to qualify for them. The two major events have offered pathways for LIV Golfers to qualify for the events this year.
If Garcia were to win another major championship, he would have to overcome some very tough odds. His fellow LIV Golf captain, Phil Mickelson, is the only golfer to win a major championship after the age of 45. Mickelson shocked the world with his 6th major triumph at the 2021 PGA Championship at the age of 50.
Sergio Garcia denies having tensions with potential Ryder Cup teammates
After serving his ban and paying the fine, Sergio Garcia is eligible for the Ryder Cup this year. With the chances of him being likely selected for the cup, there were some who doubted of him having tensions with some of his potential teammates due to his ties with LIV Golf. The Spaniard has denied having any such tensions.

Garcia was one of the top stars who abandoned the PGA Tour and DP World Tour to play for LIV Golf. That resulted in him being banned from the events on this circuit and the Ryder Cup.
Speaking with The Times of London, the 11-time PGA Tour winner claimed that he has no problem with anyone of his teammates.
I see Rory (McIlroy) here and there and I sent him a couple of texts to say ‘congrats’. I don’t have a problem with anyone at all. The most important thing when it comes to the Ryder Cup is the team and you put your big or small egos away and you know what you’re fighting for.

The golfer also revealed that he kept on following Team Europe during their triumph at the Marco Simone course in Italy in 2023. He admitted that he texted some of them on team and send them well wishes.
A month ago, there were some reports that suggested that he could be the next captain of Team Europe. However, his focus is currently on just playing in a few more events.

At the moment, Garcia will turn his attention towards the 3rd LIV Golf event of the year. He and his teammates will compete at the Sentosa Golf Club from March 14 during the LIV Golf Singapore event. Garcia, who is currently 15th in the 2025 individual standings, would be hoping for a positive result here next week.
