Sergio Ramos’ time looks to have gone from bad to worse, as the Madrid captain has now tested positive for Covid-19. The Spanish defender is already suffering from a calf injury which he picked up in the Spanish camp.

Ramos will now have to spend 10 days in isolation following the positive camp and his rehabilitation program will further be delayed. Real Madrid’s other first choice centre-back Raphael Varane had tested Covid-19 positive a few days back after returning from French National squad.

Madrid will have to make do without Ramos once again at Anfield on Tuesday night as they seek to book their place in the last four. Zinedine Zidane has named Castilla players Victor Chust, Marvin Park and Arribas to boost his squad.

Real Madrid’s struggle with injuries this season has continued late into the year as Lucas Vazquez suffered a PCL tear in the El Clasico.

Alvaro Odriozola is now Zidane’s only available first choice right back and will have to pull off a shift against the likes of Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota in the second leg.

Real Madrid announced their skipper’s Covid positive news on Twitter in the afternoon. Ramos’ presence will also be missed from the stands as he made it a point to visit all of Real Madrid’s games.

Real Madrid’s statement said, “Real Madrid CF announces that our player Sergio Ramos has given a positive result in the last COVID-19 test that has been carried out.”
