Juventus comfortably dispatched Cagliari by a score line of 2-0 in Serie A. Cristiano Ronaldo got both the goals to continue his good form this season. Moreover, this was the 5th consecutive Serie A game in which he has scored. At this point, it’s clear that Juventus are hugely dependent on Ronaldo for winning matches. Thus, this win pushed Juventus to 2nd spot in the Serie A and it will be a huge relief for Pirlo after a less than impressive start to the season. Both the teams had also painted their faces red for this match to promote the fight against gender violence.

First Half

Ronaldo

Juventus dominated the first half from the start. Kulusevski went close for Juve early on but couldn’t curl the shot inside of the post. Moreover, Bernardeschi had the ball inside the goal for Juve but it was ruled out with Morata straying offside in the build up. Nevertheless, Ronaldo finally found the opening goal as he cut on to his right foot and hit a brilliant shot into the far corner. He followed it up with another goal by hitting a improvised volley past the goalkeeper from a corner.

Second Half

De Ligt

Juventus continued in the same fashion as the first half and looked to kill the game off. Demiral almost got the third goal but he could only hit the header on to the crossbar. Moreover, Ronaldo had a beautiful chance for a hattrick but opted for a dummy so that Bernardeschi can take the shot. However, the goalkeeper, Cragno managed to keep the ball out. Meanwhile, Cagliari briefly threatened to comeback in the match but the goal by Klavan was ruled out for a foul on De Ligt in the build up.

Pirlo was really happy with the win and said, “It was important for us to boss the game today – it was just what we needed to boost our belief. We have lots of quality and we have to move the ball around quickly if we want to dominate territorially. We did that well today and the lads enjoyed themselves out there. Ronaldo works so hard both in training and in matches. Only a true champion can get the results he’s earned. He’s an example to everyone and does it in every game.”
