Serie A: Verona vs AS Roma Player Ratings as Hellas Verona snatch three points from Jose Mourinho and company
Hellas Verona defeated AS Roma by three goals to two in the Serie A tonight to grab all three points. In an evenly poised match, Verona were more clinical than Roma in the end and scored the winning goal courtesy of a wonder goal from Davide Faraoni who volleyed into the top corner. Antonin Barak and Gianluca Caprari were the other goalscorer for Verona. Lorenzo Pellegrini got a goal for Roma and they were gifted an own goal by Ilic.
Verona Player Ratings
Lorenzo Montipo (6/10) – The goalkeeper was average in his performance however looking at the two goals conceded his positioning could’ve been better.
Koray Guenter (7/10) Guenter playing in the central of the defensive line was very good tonight and imposed his presence on the Roma forward line.
Pawel Dawidowicz (6/10)- Combined well with Guenter and played intelligently to maintain the offside line.
Federico Ceccherini (6/10) Federico Ceccherini played on the left-hand side of the three defence like and was combining well with Lazovic.
Ivan Ilic (7/10)- Ilic had a mixed game tonight as he conceded an own goal in the second half but was also very helpful in the attack and even assisted Caprari for the second goal.
Daniel Bessa (6/10)- Was looking to create from below the halfway line but didn’t get much success.
Davide Faraoni ( 8/10)- An absolutely stunning hit from Marco Feraoni to get Verona their third goal. Already a goal of the season which his volley from outside the box into the top corner. Simply stunning.
Darko Lazavic (7/10)- The midfielder had a good game and had a close call with a right-footed shot in the first half which missed to the left.
Gianluca Caprari (8/10) – It was Gianluca Caprari’s goal that brought Verona back into the lead as he slammed home his shot into the bottom left-hand corner.
Antonin Barak(7/10) Antonin Barak got the equalizer for Roma in a crucial time. Although it was an easy finish he maintained his composure.
Giovanni Simeone (6/10)- Giovanni Simeone couldn’t register his name on the scoresheet but did manage the assist for Faraoni.
Substitute
Nicolo Vasala (5/10)- Brought on very late in the game, he provided defensive cover and even got a yellow card.
Martin Hongla (5/10)- Martin Hongla got some good minutes under his belt as he replaced midfielder Gianluca Caprari.
Adrien Tameze (6/10) – Adrien Tameze replaced midfielder Daniel Bessa in the second half and looked strong in possession.
Nikola Kalinic (6/10)- Nikola Kalinic was brought on in place of striker Someone but was not that effective.
AS Roma Player Ratings
Rui Patricio (6/10)- The Portuguese international had a tough match tonight. Made some decent saves but was undone by some stellar goals from Verona.
Rick Karsdorp(6/10) Karsdorp was not good in his defensive duties but did manage to provide the assist for Pellegrini’s first goal.
Ibanez (6/10)- An average performance from the defender who could have done better. Didn’t close down the spaces and let Verona with lots of shooting room.
Riccardo Calafiori (6/10)- The defender was not at his best and let far too many Verona attacks go past him.
Nicolo Zaniolo (6/10)- Zaniolo was bright as ever for Roma today but was less effective. He was fouled a lot and drew free kicks.
Lorenzo Pellegrini(8/10)- Lorenzo Pellegrini scored the first goal of the game with his shot which was right in the center. Overall he had a good game for Roma.
Bryan Cristante (5/10)- Crisante just was not able to get into the flow tonight and committed a rash challenge and was booked in the second half.
Jordan Veretout(6/10)- The forward was hardly given any space by the Verona defenders. However, he did manage to create an opportunity for Zaniolo which was blocked.
Eldor Shomurodov(6/10)- Similar to Tammy Abraham and Veretout, he also didn’t create a lot of chances. He created a good opportunity for Pellegrini whose shot was deflected.
Tammy Abraham (6/10)- The striker made some good runs into the Verona defence but lacked that previous clinical edge tonight.
Substitute
Stephan El Shaarawy (7/10) The striker tried his best since he was brought on. Having scored the winner last match, he was unable to produce the same.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (6/10)- Henrikh Mkhitaryan tried to wriggle through the Verona defense at times and got some shots away but was blocked.
Carles Perez (5/10) – Perez was brought in to replace striker Veretout but like his teammate was ineffective.
Borja Mayoral (5/10)- Jose Mourinho in a bid to increase his attacking options brought on Mayoral for midfielder Calafiori.
Chris Smalling (6/10)- AS Roma made their last change by bringing on former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling for Rick Karsdorp.
