Things are not going well for the Chicago Blackhawks. The 6-time Stanley Cup champions are having another poor season. On Tuesday night, they suffered a 2-1 defeat against the Utah Hockey Club. Following the loss, Seth Jones took a shot at his own team.
Jones opened the scoring for his team in this game in the first period. The Blackhawks later ended up conceding two goals and lost the game. This turned out to be their fourth successive defeat.
As a result of this loss, the Chicago Blackhawks are left with a 17-34-7 record with 41 losses. A frustrated Jones later lashed out the team management and heavily criticized them with a controversial opinon.
We’re the exact same team right now as we were Game 1. It’s pretty evident out there. We haven’t made any strides to be a better, more simple hockey team, and it shows.
Seth Jones told the reporters in the press conference
Seth Jones, whose filter is completely gone at this point: “We’re the exact same team right now as we were game 1. It’s pretty evident out there. We haven’t made any strides to be a better, more simple hockey team, and it shows.”

“We had no business being in that game.”
Jones has expressed his desire to be traded away. Last Friday, he waived off his no-trade clause for a chance to play more competitive hockey.
I’ve been here the last four years through probably the darkest times the Blackhawks have seen for a while. I think things are moving up, they are moving forward but I think my timeline might be different than Kyle’s (Davidson, Blackhawks general manager) and Norm’s (Maciver, associate GM).

The Blackhawks acquired Jones in 2021 through a trade move from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Days after he joined the Hawks, he penned down an 8-year, $76 million contract extension with the team.
However, since his move, the Blackhawks have been struggling. That season they finished seventh in the Central Division standings finishing with a 28-42-12 record. In the past two years, they have finished bottom of the standings and are once again staring down at the barrel this year.
Social media clowns Seth Jones for dissing Blackhawks following another loss
After scoring the opener for the Chicago Blackhawks, Seth Jones and his teammates once again surrendered a lead. The 2-1 loss against the Utah Hockey Club on Tuesday night felt like a sting to Jones who later lashed out his own side. Social media users have attacked him for this.

While there were few who stood by his side and understood his frustration, the majority of the fans blasted him. Some pointed out his own personal stats while slamming him. In the 41 games he has played this season, Jones has 7 goals and 20 assists (27 points). One user on X wrote, “get him out of town” while claiming that the team has been better without him.
Check out that and some other reactions from X below:
He’s just trying to get traded but the reality is the team has been better in games without him for multiple years.. get him out of town for a late round pick and a donut

He scores a goal and feels like he’s the only one trying? He sucks.

Seth Jones is one of the problems as well. Definitely not the only problem.

He should have asked for a trade in the offseason. Maybe they could package Murphy in.
Make him a healthy scratch until a trade is identified.

Screw that pos.
Love the honesty. This team is beyond horrible

Is he wrong ????
— Crusty Oldguy (@ArtCotey) February 26, 2025
The sooner he is gone the better. Worst signing in recent history.
— Bob Woolard (@BobWoolard1) February 26, 2025
One of the worst signings the Blackhawks have made, and they’ve made a lot of bad ones
— CS (@GRAT8819) February 26, 2025
At his salary, he should step up. He’s not worth it at 50% retention
— DJ (@Dom90254) February 26, 2025
-16 being a “top” defensive player with an A on your chest. Look in the mirror and make strides yourself, scumbag

Some Blackhawks fans even asked for the trade of youngster Connor Bedard so that he could play in a more competitive environment. The 2023-24 Rookie of the Year award winner is the leading scorer of the Hawks this season with 49 points (16 goals and 33 assists). It now remains to be seen what moves the team will make before the trade deadline.
