The trio of CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and Seth Rollins kicked off this week’s episode of Raw. And as expected, all three men didn’t hold back ahead of the much-anticipated SummerSlam bout. Rollins, the special guest referee for the match, laid down his ground rules. The Visionary seemingly hinted that he would be lenient when it came to countouts or disqualification, promising the fans a violent match.
While addressing whether he would be ‘fair’, the former World Heavyweight Champion mentioned that he hates McIntyre as much as he hates Punk. Following the segment, Rollins took to X to send a message to the WWE Universe. The Architect backed his statement by vowing to deliver an enthralling clash at the Biggest Party of the Summer. Rollins said that the in-ring mic battle was only a scratch on the surface of what was about to come.
Speaking of the heated exchange on Raw, Punk claimed that he didn’t need any help from the former Shield member on Saturday. McIntyre chimed in and told his rival that he was worried about the ‘wrong’ man. At the end, The Scottish Warrior showed off the AJ/Larry bracelet as he faced off with Punk. Things have become personal between the pair, and as Seth Rollins promised, their grudge match will be nothing less than violent.

The Second City Saint revealed that he was medically cleared on last week’s Raw. Before a brawl with Drew McIntyre could commence, Adam Pearce brought Rollins out to the ring. The former Universal Champion went on to reveal that he would oversee the match at SummerSlam. As to why the 38-year-old will call the bout, he has a valid reason for that.
Seth Rollins disclosed why he volunteered to be the referee at SummerSlam
The rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre began in January, when the latter injured the Best in the World at the Royal Rumble. Since then, the pair have exchanged back-and-forth jabs on social media and on screen. At Money in the Bank, however, things turned physical when Punk once again McIntyre out of the World Heavyweight title.

The Scottish Warrior laid his hands on the referees and Adam Pearce in the post-show event. This ultimately resulted in McIntyre’s indefinite suspension. On the latest episode of Raw, Seth Rollins explained how no referee was willing to officiate the SummerSlam clash between the duo.
Therefore, The Visionary volunteered to step in and proposed that he be the special guest referee. Needless to say, Rollins has certainly added a lot of uncertainty and intrigue to the upcoming bout on Saturday.
