On Tuesday, sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson issued a public apology to her boyfriend, Christian Coleman. While taking to her Instagram account, the 4-time gold medalist expressed that she “can’t apologize enough” to him following her arrest on domestic violence.
Two weeks ago, the American international found herself in trouble. According to reports from The Athletic, the couple would get involved in a heated domestic dispute. Richardson would shove him away several times and was even reported to have hit him with an object.
Her outburst was labeled as a fourth-degree domestic violence. She was later arrested at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The track and field athlete was released 19 hours after the arrest as Coleman decided not to press charges against her.

Since then, the two of them would compete in the USATF National Championships. On Tuesday, a few days after her arrest, Richardson broke her silence on the matter.
In a long message on her Instagram stories, she expressed that she was “blind” and “blocked” due to her past life trauma.
I apologize to Christian. He came into my life and gave me more than a relationship but a greater understanding of unconditional love from what I’ve experienced in my past. Due to my past trauma and pain, I was blind and blocked off to not only receive it but give it. I love him and to him I can’t apologize enough. My apologize should be just as loud as my actions honestly louder. To Christian I love you and I am so sorry.

Christian Coleman reacts to Sha’Carri Richardson’s arrest
The sporting world was left stunned a few days ago when reports of Sha’Carri Richardson being involved in a domestic violence dispute came up. The 25-year-old lashed out at her boyfriend, Christian Coleman, which led to her being arrested. A couple of days later, Coleman made his feelings known regarding this incident.

At the USATF Outdoor Championship, Coleman would address the situation. The sprinter thought the situation was overblown and would reveal why he refused to press any sort of charges against her despite being assaulted in a public place.
She has a lot of things going on, a lot of emotions and forces going on inside of her that not only I can’t understand, but nobody can. She’s one of one. And I’m one of one too.
Christian Coleman said
🗣️ “She’s a human being, and a great person… She has a lot of things going on, a lot of emotions and forces going on inside of her that not only I can’t understand, but nobody can. She’s one of one. And I’m one of one too.”

Sha’Carri Richardson falls short in 200m race at 2025 USATF following arrest
Following her issues off the field, Sha’Carri Richardson faced another setback at the 2025 USATF. After withdrawing and then coming back for the 200m race on Sunday, she finished fourth and missed out on the 200m spot for the World Athletics Championship.

She would finish 4th with a time of 22.56 seconds. Madison Whyte, who took the last qualifying spot, finished 0.01 seconds ahead of Richardson and earned her place in the 200m race at the World Athletics in Tokyo later this year.
She has a bye for the 100m race in this tournament due to her status as the defending champion. However, her dreams of competing in the 200m race are over following this 4th place finish.
