Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is ‘cocky in his own way’ as MVP debates gain traction amidst playoffs
SGA is on track to win his first MVP award

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
The MVP candidate, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, has been on a roll as the OKC Thunder have taken a 2-0 lead over the New Orleans Pelicans. Topping the West, the young squad has made a lot of noise early in the postseason.
Led by SGA, the Thunder look to close the first-round series in less than five games. However, behind Shai’s spectacular performance each night, the 25-year-old Canadian holds a lot of confidence in his abilities.

In his recent interview, SGA talked about how humble he may seem, as not a lot of players or even fans look at him as one of the cocky players in the league. He is not a major trash talker nor does he act aggressive during a game.
I’m humble but cocky in my own way. I have a lot of confidence and I just, I don't always exert it or show it but I'm a very confident guy.Said SGA
This came after his teammate, Chet Holmgren described Shai as humble. SGA seems focused as the playoffs have tipped off, looking to make his best run in the NBA so far. While he is not one of the players who would intimidate his opponents while being aggressive, his game talks louder than anything.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has proved his case to be the MVP
Leading his team to the top of the West and currently in the postseason as well, SGA has a strong case for the MVP award this year. He has averaged 30.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 6.2 assists per game.
Not only that, but out of all the games SGA has played this season, he’s scored over 30 points in 51 of them. His impact on the team as well as on his teammates has been great overall, creating opportunities for everyone on the offensive end of the floor.
So far into the postseason, Shai continues to maintain his scoring averages, playing alongside Holmgren, Josh Giddey, and Jalen Williams. As they dominate over the Pelicans in the first two games, the Thunder have a long journey ahead.
If the squad manages to advance to the conference finals, the MVP odds will be heavily in favor of SGA. However, teams like the Wolves and the Clippers pose a serious threat to the Thunder. As they are probable to move to the second round, the Thunder will have some competition against the Mavs or the Clippers. It will be interesting to see how things turn out for SGA and the company.
