Over the past few days, ESPN’s Shams Charania has come under the spotlight after Doc Rivers insinuated that the insider was taking his revenge out on the Milwaukee Bucks head coach and superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The 32-year-old had been constantly reporting that the Greek Freak was set to leave Milwaukee. But Rivers and the forward have repeatedly denied it.
Even then, Charania always stood by his reporting, and even gave information on how Antetokounmpo was on the verge of leaving last offseason, and even before the trade deadline.
Charania published a hit piece revealing how Rivers’ ‘resume flex’ affected the locker room. To this, the latter claimed that the ESPN Insider came up with the wrong news as his source was incorrect. Rivers labeled it as revenge for trolling him before the All-Star weekend.
I just report the news,… and the truth can hurt sometimes. I stand by my reporting.
Shams Charania said
The Insider reminded the cast of The Pat McAfee Show that he was doing his job, working his sources, and reporting whatever he was hearing from those in and around Wisconsin’s second-biggest sports franchise.

Shams Charania did not specifically respond to Doc Rivers’ accusations but indicated that he had enough proof to go ahead with his report that the soon-to-be Hall of Fame coach created a mess in the Milwaukee Bucks’ locker room.
Shams Charania calls out Bucks’ dysfunction
While talking about the Milwaukee Bucks, Shams Charania reiterated that his reports about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s dissatisfaction with the franchise were true.

The reality of everything in Milwaukee is this… If they spent as much time dealing with their own internal dynamics and problems as they do responding to accurate reports, they wouldn’t be in the mess they’re in right now.
Shams Charania said
He doubled down on his sources, who have revealed to him how the father of four has expressed his displeasure to the Bucks’ front office in several meetings.
On top of that, his body language behind closed doors has also contributed to that sentiment. Charania reiterated that had the Bucks focused on fixing that, they might not have had to face this situation.

Instead, their now former head coach was busy trying to save face after all the allegations came to light. It seems the Pakistan-origin American was making it clear that he was right in reporting the truth about the state of affairs at the franchise.
Antetokounmpo still wants to leave, and Rivers’ departure backs up Shams Charania’s reporting that something is not right in those buildings.
Shams Charania reveals Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bucks top brass’ difference in opinion
After talking about Shams Charania’s reporting, Pat McAfee remarked that it seemed as if there was an accountability factor missing within the Milwaukee Bucks.
Someone needs to tell them where they are going wrong and what needs to be fixed. At this point, their ESPN colleague chimed in to say this:
Jon Horst and Doc Rivers believed that this was a contending team and a good team. Giannis told them last summer, ‘No, it’s not, I think we need to move on.’… They made the decision to keep everything together.
Shams Charania revealed
That means that the GM and the head coach were of one opinion, whereas their franchise cornerstone was not on the same page. That is, according to Charania, the underlying problem that the Bucks faced.

He believes the upcoming offseason will prove which direction they take. After Doc Rivers’ exit, it is unclear which path they will choose to follow with Giannis Antetokounmpo still unhappy.
