Dobson came swinging in the second round after first round was takeover by Agapova and defeated Agapova via an early TKO. She went inside the Octagon as the biggest underdog of the entire night and eventually walked out with the biggest victory of her entire career.

Dobson, who held a record of 4-4 crushed Mariya Agapova (9-2) via a TKO at 1:38 of the Round 2. It is the third biggest upset win in the UFC history after Holy Holm’s against Ronda Rousey in 2015 and Matt Serra’s against Georges St-Pierre in 2007.

Dobson had recently suffered a 40 second knockout loss in February. She entered inside the Octagon with only a 1-3 record in the UFC.  Maybe Dobson’s lack of success in UFC might have led Agapova underestimate her. She came sprinting out of her corner with reckless abandon. Although Agapova looked dominant in the first round, Dobson entirely gasses her in the second round.

Agapova saw the opportunity and tried for a takedown but Dobson moved easily away. She swept her to the bottom and moved into side mount. Dobson then went on to land a series of bloody punches until referee called off.

After this spectacular win, which surprised quite a few and would have almost shocked Agapova, she said, “I’ve been doubted my whole career, and this fight I was doubted a huge amount.” She was awarded a $50,000 bonus for the performance of the night. “I didn’t know what the betting odds were until I stumbled upon them on accident when I was betting myself. I was confident. Like my coach says, ‘We’re excited, but we’re not surprised. We already knew.’, Dobson added.

She said she has been doubted and now she has proved. “She had a lot of hype behind her coming in and, I don’t know, we have been doing this way too long. Y’all doubted me way too hard, but it’s all good. I’m glad I was able to put on a great performance for the fans and get it done tonight.”
