There has recently been a lot of talk about Shane McMahon joining AEW. A member of the McMahon family appearing in a rival wrestling promotion sounds outlandish. However, it appears that the possibility of it happening may not be as far-fetched as one might think.

Speaking on Grilling JR, Conrad Thompson talked about Shane’O’Mac appearing in the Jacksonville-based promotion. The co-host said that a friend of his had reached out to him, claiming that the Crown Prince of WWE had talked with some wrestlers on the AEW roster to discuss the possibility of a debut. His friend further said that the idea was not as crazy as perceived.

It is still unclear whether Shane McMahon has reached out to Tony Khan or any higher-up official at AEW, or if they have reverted back to the billionaire’s son. If the current reports are true, the son of the mastermind behind WWE appearing in a rival promotion would be groundbreaking.

McMahon has not been seen on WWE programming since WrestleMania 39. He had an impromptu match against The Miz, during which he tore his quad right as the match started. This led to Snoop Dogg having to step in to save the segment.

Jim Ross speaks about his relationship with Shane McMahon and his possible AEW appearance

During the episode, Jim Ross mentioned how he had known McMahon since he was a kid. The 54-year-old was one of the first individuals to contact him when Jan Ross passed away in a car accident. Thus, he respected him a lot but was unsure how things would go if he were to join AEW.

Ross claimed that things would have to be perfectly introduced and positioned for something like this to work. Still, he was unsure how The Boy Wonder would work with Tony Khan creatively. The AEW commentator has been with the company since the beginning and believes that Shane O could be a great addition to the company if these issues are sorted out.

Shane McMahon has generally refrained from public appearances since the Janel Grant lawsuit against his father. Debuting in AEW would not only be a great way to re-enter the public eye but also make his return to the professional wrestling industry.
