The 2025 NASCAR Cup season is set to mark the full-time Cup series debut of Shane van Gisbergen. He will drive the No:88 Chevy, with Trackhouse Racing after their purchase of one of the Stewart Haas Racing charters. SVG is looking forward to taking advantage of his impressive season in the Xfinity Series, that saw him winning three races.
Recently Shane van Gisbergen sat down with Fox Sports, and shares what expectations he has about the 2025 season. He admitted that he doesn’t have any expectations for the upcoming season and is set to approach the season like he approached his Xfinity series debut in 2024, that saw him finish P12 in the championship table.
He wants the upcoming season to be a year of learning, as the Cup cars are much different from the Xfinity machinery, he racer last season. SVG is hopeful that he can improve his performance in the oval races, after having solid experience in the second tier, and not just relay on his raid course racing form to help him progress in the table.
Shane van Gisbergen reveals the oval race he enjoyed the most
In the same conversation, he talked about his 2024 performance in the oval tracks. He named the Bristol Motor Speedway Xfinity Series event as one of the best races of the season. SVG enjoyed the battle he had the whole event, helping him learn a lot ever, making it an epic race though he finished P18.
The comments from Shane van Gisbergen shows he has learned a lot about oval racing with his Kaulig Racing Xfinity stint. It would be interesting to see how he can convert this impressive season to a solid rookie year in the Cup.
