After a rollercoaster season, Stefanos Tsitsipas finds himself in the fourth round at the 2024 Shanghai Masters. The Greek ace defeated Alexander Muller 6-3, 7-5 in the third round to set a clash with fifth seed Daniil Medvedev.
This will be their fourteenth meeting on the ATP Tour and the first in a year. Tsitsipas has had an on-and-off season so far, winning his only title at the Monte-Carlo Masters. Meanwhile, Medvedev is yet to win a title this year despite reaching a few finals.
In Shanghai, the two players look in good form and are now pitted against each other for a place in the quarterfinals.

Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas are all set to go up against each other in the fourth round at the Shanghai Masters. Medvedev, the 2019 champion, is in search of his first title of the season and has done well to drop only one set in the two matches played so far.
The Russian defeated Thiago Seyboth Wild 7-5, 7-5 in the second round and then came back from a set down to beat Matteo Arnaldi 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the third round. The World No. 5 has been in good form this season where he has made it to a couple of finals and a few semifinals (including Wimbledon).
Now, with Tsitsipas to play in the fourth round, Medvedev will be fancying his chances. However, the job won’t be easy considering Tsitsipas’ rhythm in Shanghai. The Greek ace has not dropped a set yet in the two matches played so far.
The Greek ace began his Shanghai campaign by beating Kei Nishikori 7-6(6), 6-4 and then won 6-3, 7-5 against Alexandre Muller. Tsitsipas has not been at his best since the Paris Olympics. He made early exits in Canada, Cincinnati, New York (US Open), and Tokyo. The World No. 12 will be looking to end that run by beating Medvedev.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has a 39-18 win-loss record this season. In Shanghai, the 10th seed picked up his 200th hard court win by beating Kei Nishikori in his opener and saved the first six break points he faced in Shanghai — three against Nishikori and three against Alexandre Muller.
The World No. 12 has made it to the fourth round at a Masters tournament this year for the fourth time. While Tsitsipas managed to win the title in Monte-Carlo, Daniil Medvedev has failed to convert his finals into titles this season.
Despite the struggles, the Russian leads Tsitsipas 9-4 in the head-to-head record. In their last two meetings, Medvedev had no problem defeating Tsitsipas and the 2021 US Open champion is expected to take down the Greek once again.
