The Indiana Fever selected Caitlin Clark as the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. Clark, one of the top college prospects at the time, was destined to play in the WNBA based on her college performance. Since joining the league, Clark has proven herself as one of the top stars in her rookie season, showing no signs of slowing down.
Caitlin Clark has been breaking records in the WNBA since entering the competition. She recently broke the rookie record of most assists by a rookie in a single season with 225 assists. The record was previously held by Ticha Penicheiro with 224 assists in 1998. Recently on the ‘NightCap’ podcast. Shannon Sharpe talked about Clark and her recent matchup with the Seattle Storm.
The matchup between both teams became very intense which resulted into many verbal altercations. During the game, Clark was trying to hype the crowd when Seattle star Skylar Diggins quietly pushed her from behind.

Sharpe took a stand in favor of Clark and stated that the push from Diggins was deliberate. Sharpe even stated that Diggins did it out of jealousy because Clark was playing really well.
Shannon Sharpe has been focusing on Clark’s hit from Diggins on Sunday, but she has also been actively involved in a few physical plays with players like Chennedy Carter, Breanna Stewart, and even Angel Reese. Clark recorded 23 points, nine assists, and five rebounds on the occasion. She is certainly making a strong argument for herself in the Rookie of the Year conversation.
Since entering the league, Clark has been one of the best playmakers and is averaging great assists numbers. Even Sharpe believes that Clark is destined to be one of the top stars of the league in coming years.

Caitlin Clark is certainly one of the best young stars in the league today. She has been breaking records and setting milestones since day one. Clark has shown the blueprints of a future superstar and even big brands like Nike have offered her gigantic contracts for long-term.
Clark has also been in contention for the Rookie of the Year alongside Angel Reese. Both rookies have been going neck to neck in the race. While Clark possesses great playmaking and passing skills, Reese certainly has great rebounding power. It will certainly be interesting to watch who wins the Rookie of the Year award.
Both Clark and Reese are certainly the future of the WNBA. They even made their first All-Star game in just their rookie season. Fans are excited to see how the careers of both Clark and Reese unfold in the future.
