Shannon Sharpe drops two hilarious one-liners on Lakers adding to iconic catchphrase collection

LeBron James and Shannon Sharpe

The Los Angeles Lakers are currently one of the strongest teams in the NBA. They have won eight straight games and 14 of their past 16, going back to January. That puts the Lakers second in the Western Conference. Also, only the Thunder in the west and the Cavaliers and Celtics in the east have a better record than the Lakers. Former NFL player Shannon Sharpe fancies their chances in the playoffs.

Many NBA analysts have spoken about the Oklahoma City Thunder’s top-notch performances this season, making them a strong contender for the 2025 NBA title. Sharpe believes otherwise. In the latest segment of “First Take,” Shannon Sharpe offered a bold and somewhat amusing prediction about the Los Angeles Lakers’ prospective playoff meeting with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Sharpe, known for his witty and often outspoken commentary, boldly announced, “SGA, PGA, USA, Lakers in five,” leaving many viewers and co-hosts stunned. He did not stop there.

If I got a healthy LeBron [James], an engaged reinvigorated Luka [Doncic], 4-seed, mustard seed, poppy seed … Lakers in 5.

The two hilarious catchphrases have gone viral, with fans continuing this trend on social media. Notably, Sharpe’s statement comes while the Lakers are showing signs of revival, with the inclusion of Luka Doncic and LeBron James‘s ongoing excellence. The Lakers are currently 8-2 over their last ten games, and their on-court chemistry has steadily improved.

However, expecting a five-game triumph against the Thunder, who presently have the best performances in the Western Conference (46-10), appears unduly optimistic. Sharpe’s co-host, Stephen A. Smith, was quick to criticize the claim, implying that Sharpe may require a drug test to make such a big statement.

Lakers suffer injury blow as LeBron James set to miss 2 weeks of NBA action

As per reports, LeBron James is expected to be out for one to two weeks due to a groin strain. He sustained this during Saturday night’s showpiece game involving the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics. However, James is going to be re-evaluated. This is after the injury has rested for 24 hours, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

James suffered a groin injury while playing in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s contest. He exited after allegedly overextending while spinning in the paint for a shot over Jaylen Brown, and the team declared him out for the rest of the game.

He had 22 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists in the Lakers’ 111-101 loss. After the game, James expressed “not much concern” regarding the issue, comparing it to a significant groin strain he sustained in 2018 during his initial season with the Lakers.
