There were a lot of hearts rooting for Lamar Jackson to win, to get “the chip” off his shoulder as he faced off against the Buffalo Bills. However, whether be it the late-game drop by Mark Andrews or Jackson’s turnover, the team fell short by two points to advance the AFC Championship game.

While fans have made the star quarterback the scapegoat to vent their frustration, NFL legend Shannon Sharpe expressed his high confidence in him, which didn’t tumble following the frustrating loss. In his latest appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Sharpe affirmed his faith in the two-time NFL MVP– about to win his third next month, to secure the Vince Lombardi Trophy to his name.

I still believe he can get it done. I think he has a lot of pressure too because, ‘Man, the MVP, I am the MVP,’ and he goes into the game and he tries to be perfect. I cannot be mad at Lamar Jackson for that fumble because I saw him make that same play against Cincinnati Bengals… and he finds [Isiah] Likely for the touchdown. So you can’t be mad at him because that’s the way he plays. Those are the kind of plays… that’s gonna get him the third MVP.

Shannon Sharpe asserted when asked about his confidence in Jackson to achieve Super Bowl success

The Pro Football Hall of Famer highlighted that the three-time All-Pro cannot afford to make the mistake of turnover in the playoffs. Before concluding his segment, he advised Jackson to “run the football,” next time he reaches the playoffs.

Cam Newton weighs in on Lamar Jackson’s burden in playoffs

His colleague, Cam Newton, partially echoed Sharpe’s sentiments, pointing out that Jackson often shoulders the entire burden instead of relying on his teammates.

While this approach may be effective during the regular season, the high-pressure environment of the playoffs can make such over-the-top plays less likely to succeed, highlighting the areas he needs to improve.

The greatest curse for a game-changer is this: ‘I have to win the game.’ And the biggest mistake we all make at times like this is, ‘Man, I gotta do more. I gotta do more,’ but in reality, less can be more

Additionally, the former Carolina Panthers’ quarterback reinforced Sharpe’s comments critiquing Josh Allen’s performance, stating it fell short of MVP standards. He noted that Allen’s ability to secure the win was primarily due to playing error-free football.
