Shannon Sharpe happened to face technical difficulties in one of the episodes over the weekend. Ochocinco got late to the show as he was held up after his driver locked them out of their car by mistake. He had to wait for a tow truck to help bail him out, which ultimately caused the delay.

Sharpe was not happy about this and sounded off on his co-host. He began by asking him if Johnson has people pick him up from the airport when he makes appearances for ESPN or Inside the NFL, to which the former wideout responded with a yes.

Sharpe had done his homework. He immediately shut Johnson down.

No you don't. I'm just trying to figure out why with your show, you'd choose to take that route when you don't take that route for ESPN or Inside the NFL...that ain't what they told me."

The hall-of-fame tight end had made a few calls to his contacts in ESPN before finding out if Johnson would book his drivers or rely upon the networks to send a ride over.

Chad Johnson remained firm and told Shannon Sharpe that he was free to check the records if he did not believe him. Sharpe then explained the reason for his frustration.

Ocho, this is part of your show. Why would you run the risk of being late for your show?...Ocho, why don't you just have the people you're working for, just have them book you a car service?

The analyst was not happy about the fact that Johnson relied upon an alternative that prioritized his comfort more than getting him to his destination on time. Sharpe was not pleased that Johnson would risk showing up late for a show on which he is the co-host.

I didn't want to be late... I would have been on time but due to unfortunate circumstances of him locking the keys in his car, which I documented, I was just a little late.
Chad Johnson shared his perspective as well

Ultimately, Sharpe confronted Johnson by asking him if his comfort mattered more than being professional to which he chose the former. Throughout this conversation, Sharpe’s tone rubbed fans off the wrong way, it was clear that he was frustrated with Johnson but at the same time, it seemed to them as though he was similarly treating his new co-host as Skip Bayless treated him.

Fortunately, Sharpe was quick to nip this controversy in the bud. He issued a clarification wherein he cleared the air on bad blood in the relationship between him and Johnson. Responding to the comments accusing him of treating Ochocinco in the manner that Skip Bayless treated him, Sharpe made his stance clear.

What I am going to do is that I'm going to push, I'm going to pull, I'm going to drag Ocho to a level that he didn't think he could get to.
