NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe would prefer if Cincinnati Bengals players talked less after the embarrassing loss to the Washington Commanders.

The Cincinnati Bengals opening their season with a loss has recently become the norm. That is why no one gave it much thought when Joe Burrow and his teammates lost their first two games.

Entering their third game against the Washington Commanders, they were expected to resume their winning ways. Only to walk away with their heads hung.

Now former tight end Shannon Sharpe has some things to say about their off-field situation. The Hall of Famer was speaking on First Take.

When did the Bengals start talking so much for a team that hadn't won anything? Shut up! Win something! Y'all chirp too much. The game is played on the field. You can talk your way into an a** whooping, but you can't talk your way into a victory. You let a rookie do that to you? That's what I dislike the most. T-ing them over and you still talking.
Shannon Sharpe said

His entire panel was in agreement after this epic rant. As they all know the way the Bengals players have been talking, did not match up with their performance on the field.

Shannon Sharpe did give them a pass for trash talking ahead of the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Rivalries bring out that edge that helps fuel the fire. But against an upstart team helmed by a rookie quarterback, it was unnecessary. Now it looks worse after that young team embarrassed them at their own home.

The Washington Commanders played excellent football throughout the game. They especially embarrassed the Bengals defense by scoring on every drive. Seeing all that, Sharpe wants the Bengals to stop talking, take accountability, and win games before speaking again.

Another loss for Joe Burrow as starting OT ends season

If the three losses were not enough, another disappointing news hit Joe Burrow earlier. Starting tackle Trent Brown Jr. was struggling with a knee injury. Insider Ian Rapoport came back with an update on his X account.

OT Trent Brown, who was ruled out last night with a knee injury, will undergo surgery to repair his torn patellar tendon, sources say. His 2024 season is over, but Brown is expected to make a full recovery.
Ian Rapoport reported

This loss makes it trickier for Joe Burrow. Brown was the rock on the right side of his offensive line. With him out for the year, Burrow might have to be quicker and more aware of the right side.

The problem Burrow will face is that he will have to rely on rookie Amarius Mims to keep his right side clean. Shannon Sharpe expressed no admiration for Burrow‘s play against the Commanders. Now it will be tougher for Burrow to impress him.

Burrow can only hope that his rookie learns the game fast enough. Otherwise he will see a lot of the dirt in the upcoming games. They will face some of the best defenses in the league this season. Amarius Mims will have a lot on his plate going forward.
