The Dallas Cowboys’ running game has been a topic of discussion since last season, as everyone has always expected Jerry Jones to deal with it. However, despite having a chance to acquire Derrick Henry, the front office didn’t take any action, later saying that they couldn’t afford the running back.

Talking about the run game, sports analyst Shannon Sharpe once again took a shot at the Cowboys owner, Jones for letting go of a brilliant opportunity to acquire Henry and strengthen the offense by taking some burden off the shoulders of quarterback Dak Prescott

Previously Sharpe blamed Jones’ ego for not signing the two-time All-Pro running back. This time, sitting next to former NFL quarterback Cam Newton, Sharpe mocked the Cowboys by saying Newton could play better than the team’s current running backs.

Cam, you drop 15 pounds, they put you at running back, you can do better than what [the Cowboys] got. They don’t have a running formula. They don’t have enough. They could’ve easily paid 6 million dollars to Derrick Henry. If you look at the best teams, they run the football to take a lot of the pressure off the quarterback. Dallas does it in reverse.

Shannon Sharpe said, joined by Cam Newton laughing at his snarky comment

Seeing the team’s offseason activities and performance this season which put them at a 2-3 record, Sharpe has lost all confidence in the Cowboys’ running game and their chances of winning the upcoming game against the Detroit Lions.

Ezekiel Elliott confused by role in Cowboys’ offense

Speaking of the Cowboys running game, a recent report by Clarence Hill of DLLS Sports revealed some surprising details about Ezekiel Elliott’s addition in Dallas. The running back reportedly has voiced his confusion to his coaches regarding the ambiguity surrounding his role within the offense.

He is upset about getting “limited opportunities” despite being a red zone back. The Cowboys acquired him with confidence despite his abysmal stats from the 2023 season, however, in the last five games, he has started only once.

As the season proceeds, it has become urgent for the Cowboys to address their running problem. Their rushing stats of 82 yards are ranked second last in the league, which might be the reason they once again failed to reach the Super Bowl.
