After success in initial days, Shannon Sharpe signs a multi-year contract extension with ESPN

Shannon Sharpe is undeniably one of the most entertaining sports media personalities on television. A solid argument can be made that he is on par to have yet another Hall of Fame career in media following the success he achieved on the gridiron.
It comes as no surprise that ESPN has offered Shannon Sharpe a multi-year contract to remain with the network and be the face of its flagship show, First Take, alongside Stephen A. Smith. The terms of the contract have not been made public.
As reported by ESPN Press Room, the new deal comes after First Take ratings reached record highs this season following the addition of Sharpe. His chemistry with Stephen A. Smith clicked instantaneously, and the duo has become the most entertaining to watch following weekend football games.

The show earned its highest viewership ever in May and has continued to grow consistently. The new deal would give Sharpe the opportunity to feature on multiple programs of the network. While there is no confirmation yet on which other programs fans will see him, his presence is likely to extend to Get Up featuring Mike Greenberg and co.
Following the new deal, Sharpe revealed his optimism about the future.

Sharpe has gone all-in on the media industry. Apart from ESPN, he hosts Club Shay Shay, his podcast that has been recieved well and won multiple accolades. In addition to this, he hosts The Nightcap Show with Chad Johnson, another show that has become popular amongst fans.
His impact has been felt by ESPN and his former network, FOX Sports. Following his departure, Undisputed on FS1 felt a sharp decline in its viewership. The new contract with ESPN is great news for fans as watching him and Stephen A. go at it is peak entertainment.
