As the Baltimore Ravens prepare to take on Houston Texans on Christmas, streaming platform Netflix has pulled all the stops to make the day one to remember. Netflix has roped in 32-time Grammy Award winner Beyonce to play during the half-time break.
Earlier, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson came in support of Netflix, thanking them for bringing such a known international figure like Beyonce. Jackson humorously added that he would try to sneak through the coaching staff and other administration to catch glimpses of the performance by Beyonce.
With the final weeks of the season awaiting and the AFC North title hanging on a fine thistle, Analyst and former player Shannon Sharpe wants the player to keep his eyes focused on the big picture here. In a special game preview episode on ESPN, Sharpe admitted that Jackson has the resources to watch the famed singer at a different opportunity, suggesting that he should look at the bigger picture here – the Super Bowl.
With the money that he makes, I think he understands that he’s the leader of the team and the last thing you want is him out there and the whole team out there… let’s stay focused.

In an earlier NightCap episode with Chad Johnson, Sharpe agreed with Johnson’s take on what Jackson had said. Chad Ocho Johnson stated that Jackson was trolling with the Beyonce comment. Sharpe reverberated that he also thinks that Jackson is trolling as he knows that half-time shows and other festivities are purely for the fans.
The halftime show is for the fans in attendance and the people watching… you get to go to the game and that’s what you have to, like when you go to the Super Bowl we understood that the Super Bowl is for the fans, and the game is for us (players). All the festivities, that’s for all the people coming in.
Jackson, who’s on mark to reach 40+ passing touchdowns and 4000+ passing yards, is also one of the main names in the NFL MVP race. Sharpe has previously revealed that Jackson should be winning when comparing stats against Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. There are too many elements at stake for Lamar Jackson – the primary one being an opportunity to shut all the naysayers and critics with a ring to his profile.
Beyonce is no stranger to the NFL halftime spectacles
Beyonce is one of the most popular international singers for a reason. She has championed black rights, fought adversities, and come up with creative and attention-generating performances that kept her on everyone’s mind for a very long time. Netflix is trying to utilize her status to amplify their new victory into a more resounding victory.
Beyoncé, a Houston, Texas native, is set to perform live renditions of songs from her latest Grammy-nominated album, Cowboy Carter. Released earlier this year, the album showcases country music influences and includes collaborations with Dolly Parton, Reyna Roberts, Linda Martell, Shaboozey, and Willie Nelson.
No stranger to Super Bowl halftime shows, Beyoncé headlined in 2013 and made a guest appearance during Coldplay’s 2016 performance. In 2013, Beyonce delivered a medley of her greatest hits, including “Crazy in Love,” an acapella rendition of “Love on Top,” “End of Time,” and “Baby Boy.” The show ended with a surprise Destiny’s Child reunion, as she was joined on stage by former bandmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.
The 2016 show was one embroiled in a scandal. Beyonce was accused of taking away the limelight from Chris Martin’s Coldplay while being a guest. She performed her then-newly released single with a politically charged spectacle. Beyonce delivering a timeless masterpiece aligns with expectations, whether Jackson makes the truth of his words is yet to be seen.
