Their huge centre Rudy Gobert has been their defensive spirit. The former DPOY has impressed a lot of former players and analysts with his game style.  Shaquille O’Neal has a fair share of problems with the modern NBA. Despite being the big guy in his generation, he has only a handful favourites in the modern day. However, Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert is definitely one of them.

Recently Rudy Gobert was signed with $205 Million Dollar max-extension deal making him the highest paid centre in the NBA. He has never backed down to prove this fact wrong. The Jazz held Portland Trail Blazers despite being in a very tough contest early on. Donovan Mitchell added 37-points. Rudy Gobert was the main highlight grabbing 20 rebounds along with 18 points. Rudy’s dominance was very visible with this performance on the defensive end. The Blazers could not keep up with the tough defence of Jazz. Jusuf Nurkic was back with the team and he had his fair share of game in the second half.

Shaquille O’Neal, as mentioned earlier is very picky with the big men in modern game. He criticized Gobert earlier when the franchise signed him as the highest paid centre. But now, he feels the opposite. He recently revealed, “Rudy Gobert is not an average big guy NBA player no more. Because the average big, they’re looking for a guy who can pick and pop and do whatever. Rudy Gobert is big, tall, plays hard, plays great defense. Defensive Player of the Year. But he’s making 200 million. So all you big guys out there? Look at him. Follow him. You’re not gonna be LeBron, Kobe, or KG. But I think there’s a lot of big guys even today that can do what he can do.”

Shaq made a strong case for the Gobert. He is setting the main motive behind the younger generation to have a practical aspiration of the current generation.
