“Taking a fat drug and getting fatter!” Shaquille O’Neal brutally roasts Charles Barkley’s health

Shaquille O'Neal sent shots at Charles Barkley during interview with Evander Holyfield

During a recent episode of The Big Podcast, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal couldn’t resist taking a jab at his longtime friend and Inside the NBA co-host Charles Barkley. The playful exchange happened during an interview with boxing great Evander Holyfield, where Shaq sought advice on fitness and jokingly contrasted Holyfield’s physical condition with Barkley’s weight loss journey.

As the conversation turned to health and fitness, commended Holyfield for staying in peak shape post-retirement. The former boxer recently promised to help Shaquille O’Neal prepare for a possible charity boxing match against Rob Gronkowski. Amid the praise, Shaq slyly slipped in a comment about Barkley’s weight loss efforts.

Can I get a list of the vitamins that you take? Because you’re looking beautiful right now. I don’t want to end up looking like your good friend Charles Barkley… Barkley’s the only guy that’s taking a fat drug and getting fatter.

Shaquille O’Neal playfully remarked

Shaq’s jibe towards the Chuckster referenced Barkley’s admission in 2023 about his usage of mounjaro, a medication designed for type 2 diabetes, to aid his weight loss. Barkley revealed that he had lost 60 pounds after using the drug for six months.

O’Neal’s joke, of course, wasn’t just a random dig but a continuation of their friendly rivalry, which often plays out on Inside the NBA. That show is set to return next season after much speculation about its future.

The two NBA Hall of Famers frequently tease each other. In one instance, Barkley has mocked Shaq for his free-throw woes and the latter fired back about Barkley’s lack of championship rings.

Shaquille O’Neal reveals his fitness at 52 with a shocking dunk

Shaquille O’Neal isn’t lining up in the featherweight category anytime soon, despite his digs about the Chuckster’s weight. However, he might still have some juice left in his 52-year-old frame as he demonstrated on Inside the NBA on Tuesday night.

O’Neal stunned viewers by delivering a powerful dunk in TNT’s Studio J, proving that he still possesses some of the athleticism that defined his career. As is often the case on the show, the moment started with a bit of trash talk.

Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith playfully doubted Shaq’s ability to dunk at his age, with Barkley even warning him. Unfazed, O’Neal took off his blazer, grabbed a basketball, and threw down a thunderous dunk on the studio’s in-house court.

The dunk was a nostalgic throwback for fans and his co-hosts alike. Ernie Johnson, the show’s anchor, looked visibly relieved that Shaq completed the dunk without injury, while Smith gave him a standing ovation. Even Barkley, despite his earlier skepticism, joined in the cheers, acknowledging that the big man may have some juice left in him after all.
