Minnesota Timberwolves star Rudy Gobert has been part of a lot of criticism and trolling the a past few year. One of the main frontrunners of this trolling and criticism towards Gobert is NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal. Both O’Neal and Gobert have had an ongoing beef with each other and fans have seen the beef reach its boiling point during the 2024 Paris Olympics. It seems that O’Neal has now reignited the beef between him and Gobert.
Recently, Shaquille O’Neal made his appearance as a guest on The OG’s show. On the show, O’Neal went on to make few more comments about Gobert, further extending the narrative of Gobert being the worst player in the NBA.
O’Neal called Gobert sensitive and further addressed Gobert’s comments made previously. In response to Gobert’s remarks, O’Neal boasted about his busy schedule and numerous commercial appearances.
So, a lot of these big men when I put up these challenges they fail the test cause they respond...They're sensitive now you know when I speak, I try to speak from facts it may come out wrong and you may think I'm hatin and his comments "you trying to stay relevant" m********, I got 15 commercials, the fuck you talking about?Shaquille O’Neal via The OGs Show
During the segment, Shaq took the opportunity to make fun of Rudy Gobert and highlight the moment when Gobert fell on the floor and pulled himself under Joel Embiid‘s legs at the Paris Olympics.
Fans have repeatedly seen Shaq poking fun at today’s centers. O’Neal has often claimed that modern centers are not as tough as those from the ’90s and 2000s. Rudy Gobert has been one of the primary targets of Shaq’s criticism regarding the toughness of today’s centers.
Gobert is known for his defensive output, but he is not much of an offensive player. Meanwhile, O’Neal dominated as a big man offensively during his time in the league. Many consider O’Neal one of the top 5 centers in NBA history, a distinction that cannot be attributed to Gobert.
Shaquille O’Neal talks about taking a pay cut for the Miami Heat
After winning three championships with the Lakers, Shaquille O’Neal was one of the biggest and most dominant superstars in the league. However, due to ongoing tension with Kobe Bryant, O’Neal was traded to the Miami Heat. His arrival in Miami made headlines. Recently, on the The OGs Show, O’Neal reflected on his time with the Heat.
During the podcast, O’Neal discussed how he voluntarily took a pay cut to improve the team’s chances of winning the 2006 championship. He explained that by accepting less money, the Heat were able to strengthen their roster by adding defensive standouts Gary Payton and James Posey.
O’Neal’s willingness to reduce his salary played a crucial role in Miami’s ability to sign these key players, both of whom made significant contributions to the team’s successful 2006 championship run.
Although O’Neal played for a smaller time in Miami, he still played an instrumental role in the Heat’s first championship. He further went on to win his fourth ring. O’Neal will certainly go down in history as one of the most dominant centers in NBA history.
