Tyronn Lue recounted a wild prank from Shaquille O'Neal
Shaquille O’Neal’s playful antics in the locker room have long been a part of his comic personality. The NBA legend often entertained teammates with pranks during his storied career. However, a recent revelation from former teammate Tyronn Lue about one of his infamous practical jokes bordered on being extreme and borderline disrespectful.
Tyronn Lue shared the story during his appearance on The Draymond Green Show, involving Shaq and former Los Angeles Lakers teammate Devean George. According to Lue, the incident unfolded after George refused to comply with a request from Shaquille O’Neal. To retaliate, the ‘Big Diesel’ took an outrageous step which Lue recounted.
Shaq goes in the stall, and he takes a sh*t in Devean’s shoes. So, he takes it and knocks it so it goes all the way down… It’s hard to believe, but when you know Shaq, it seems like something he could do.

As Lue recounted, George, unaware of the prank, returned to the locker room to put on his shoes. He almost slid his feet into the sneakers before finding out the soiled secret inside them. The prank was obviously extremely over the top and disgusting and it drew equally disgusted reactions from hosts Draymond Green and Baron Davis.
On the other hand, Devean George has vehemently denied any such incident happening. Lue’s story has been well known within NBA circles before, but in a 2022 interview with TMZ, George said that the entire story of Shaquille O’Neal defecating in his shoes was a made up tale, supposedly spread by Tyronn Lue. The truth of the story, however, might never be confirmed unless Shaq decides to validate it, like some of his other pranks.
Shaquille O’Neal once pranked rookies with ‘poop’ hazing
The shoe incident isn’t the only story of Shaquille O Neal’s bathroom humor gone wild. Former teammate Gary Payton once claimed during an interview with Vlad TV that O’Neal had a hazing ritual involving a bucket. Payton alleged that Shaq would defecate and urinate in the bucket over several days before dumping its contents on unsuspecting rookies.
Shaq is a jokester. If one of the rookies would be in the stall, then he would take a bucket and use the bathroom in it for about a week. And then all of a sudden he would pour it on them, so we started being jokester.

Payton explained how Shaq’s pranks often left his teammates either laughing or horrified. Among the rookies potentially subjected to this hazing during Shaq’s time with the Lakers and the Miami Heat were players like Kobe Bryant, Tyronn Lue, and Joel Anthony. If any of those rookies were potentially affected by Shaq’s pranks, it would truly be a sight to behold.
The defecation prank’s certainly crossed lines for many. Payton himself admitted to pranking Shaquille O’Neal in retaliation, though his methods were more tame. He recounted stealing Shaq’s underwear or ruining his pants, forcing the 7-foot-1 center to roam in a towel. On the bright side though, Payton did say that Shaq took any retaliatory pranks like a champ.
