Shaquille O'Neal trolls NBA DPOY Rudy Gobert again after getting dunked on in Paris Olympics 2024

With the Paris Olympics 2024 underway, the country that has a lot of reputation riding on its athletes is France. That is natural when it comes to a hosting nation, proud of its history-bending past. With that in mind, the men’s basketball team started their quest to bring glory to their nation. A glory that NBA DPOY Rudy Gobert wants so desperately. But one of his plays, has Shaquille O’Neal trolling, again.

The play in question was in the first quarter when Brazil’s Maozinha Pereira posterized the Frenchman in their first Olympics game. Knowing this has happened, O’neal put out a meme on his official Instagram story with a picture of a supermarket cashier with Gobert’s face on it.

Suggesting that the Minnesota Timberwolves star is not a good basketball player. But gets by because of his height and physical abilities.

Shaquille O’Neal has often taken shots at the French big man. Once he questioned his abilities, which according to the 4-time champion, have not translated in comparison to his salary. With this post, he reaffirms his notion that Gobert is only an NBA player due to his height.

The Big Aristotle has also questioned his ability to defend when the stakes are high. Especially, how he had a stretch of bad games in the Western Conference Finals this past season. The Dallas Mavericks scoring at will against the Frenchman was one of the prime reasons the Timberwolves could not advance.

Rudy Gobert has to play at the DPOY level if France is to have a chance

Rudy Gobert might have won his 4th NBA Defensive Player of the Year award last season. But ever since winning that, he has been unable to replicate his defensive prowess in games. In this win, he recorded only 2 blocks and grabbed only 3 rebounds. Against a team like Brazil, it may be fine.

But against the likes of Australia, Serbia, Canada, and most notably the USA, those numbers will not be enough. Scoring is already taken care of by the likes of Victor Wembanyama and the other French stars. Therefore, all he has to do is take care of the interior defense and grab rebounds.

If he does not rediscover his DPOY form, it might be the difference between France winning a medal and embarrassingly exiting the Paris Olympics 2024. If the latter happens, expect Shaquille O’Neal to drop another troll or two.
