Dhoni displayed his vintage old striking form by playing some destructive cameos down the order. It felt like he was rolling back the years. CSK, however, could not qualify for the playoffs under Gaikwad in his first season. Dhoni was always there to help him from behind the wickets.

He had been playing in that season with a bad knee injury. It is not clear whether he will feature in IPL 2025.
