“What an embarrassment” – Fans BLAST Sharks management as team scripts unwanted history with ninth successive loss of 2024-25 season
Following their 7-3 loss on Saturday night, San Jose Sharks became the first team to lose their opening nine games in back-to-back season.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. This could apply to the San Jose Sharks of the NHL. Even after going through a torrid 2023-24 season and several changes, there has been no change in their fortunes.
On Saturday night, the Sharks were swept away 7-3 by the Vegas Golden Knights. This saw them drop their ninth successive game of the season, and they are now 0-7-2 for the 2024-25 season. Last year, they started the season with a 0-10-1 record before finally winning against the Philadelphia Flyers in the 12th time of asking.
This loss against the Golden Knights saw them script an unwanted piece of history. They are now the first team in NHL history to lose the first nine games in back-to-back seasons.

The Sharks are currently undergoing a rebuilding phase. At the 2024 draft, they picked up Macklin Celebrini and named Ryan Warsofsky as their head coach. Despite this, there has not been much improvement in their results.
Following this game, the head coach admitted that it was a “tough” time for them now in the locker room. He later added that it was “truly embarrassing” for them to script such an unwanted record.
I don’t think anyone’s happy by any means. There’s a lot of emotion in that locker room, frustration, anger, it’s tough right now.
Ryan Warsofsky said as per San Jose Hockey.
The Sharks finished the 2023-24 season with just 47 points, the lowest any team has achieved in an 82-game season since the league started awarding one point for OT and shootout losses. At the moment, the Sharks only have two points from their opening games and are once again staring down the barrel.
Social media reactions to San Jose Sharks creating unwanted history
Following this poor performance, it is no surprise that the fans are angry with the San Jose Sharks. After creating this unwanted history of becoming the first team to lose the first nine games in two successive seasons, fans lashed out at the team management on social media.

Several of them called out the General Manager, Mike Grier. One fan compared him to his brother, Chris Grier, who serves as the GM of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, and wrote that both brothers are “complete failures” in their respective sports while adding, “What an embarrassment“.
Check out that and some more reactions from fans on X below:
Amazing how both Grier Brothers are complete failures as GMs in their respective sports. What an embarrassment

The Sharks rebuild is off to the most perfect start to 2 seasons in a row. In 5 years their fans will be thankful for every attempt made at emulating the 8-67-5 start the 1974-75 capitals endured.

The Sharks’ next game is against the Utah Hockey Club. Though things are not going the way they had hoped, the Utah Hockey Club has lost three games on the bounce, giving the Sharks fans a slight optimism of a positive result in their tenth attempt of the 2024-25 campaign.
