Shavkat Rakhmonov battles Ian Garry in the UFC 310 PPV co-main event on Saturday. Both ‘Nomad’ and the Irishman are keeping lofty title gold dreams, as well as keeping their “0” intact. The Kazakh fighter remains extremely confident in remaining undefeated. As such, he intends to stop Garry’s three-step plan to fight Khamzat Chimaev at middleweight for a future title clash.
Their co-main event clash this Saturday at UFC 310 in a pivotal welterweight scrap. It decides who gets to be No. 1 seed for gold to challenge injured champion Belal Muhammad. Speaking recently on The Ariel Helwani Show, Garry revealed his plans – beat Rakhmonov, win the welterweight title, and move up to middleweight. Shavkat Rakhmonov gave him a hard dose of what he thinks will happen.
Ian Garry faces his biggest test yet as he looks to improve to 3-0 in 2024 – all against ranked opposition. “The Future” has been through the grinder in his two fights this year, winning close decisions over Geoff Neal and Michael Page. The former Bellator fighter specifically posed many challenges as a point-striker but Garry outgrappled him.
Rakhmonov took note of his former sparring partner’s 30 minutes in the octagon. Predicting and trash-talking aside, Rakhmonov admired the Irish fighter for taking the fight. He was set to fight Joaquin Buckley on December 14 in Tampa, Florida. Instead, he filled in for the injured champion. The Kazakh star is all in for the sportsmanship, but he also dismisses the notions that Garry can capitalize on him.

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Ian Garry is a #1 welterweight contender fight. Much has been said from the once Team Kill Cliff FC peers in the build-up. However, the Kazakh phenom takes issue with a particular strain of thought from Ian Garry.
The Irishman predicted a stoppage win over his foe. In the lead-up to the media day fighter interviews, he also told on the The Ariel Helwani Show that he can exploit the fighter in later frames. Unimpressed, Rakhmonov gives a hard pass.
Of his 15 professional victories, the Irishman has stopped eight of his opponents. Rakhmonov believes that Garry is a quality opponent. But he is reluctant to call him the toughest test he has faced in his fighting career. At #4, the current fight props price Rakhmonov at a heavy -390 bettor’s favorite. Where they go from here remains anyone’s guess.
