“Whoever started that sh** got it totally wrong!” NBA legend says LeBron James should NOT be compared to Michael Jordan
Shawn Kemp's comments add to the ongoing debate about LeBron's place in NBA history.
Michael Jordan and LeBron James
Shawn Kemp, a former NBA player, has expressed his disapproval of comparisons between LeBron James and Michael Jordan. While he acknowledges both players’ greatness, Kemp believes they are fundamentally different and should not be compared.
Kemp thinks LeBron James is right up there among the best players in NBA history, but doesn’t think he needs to be considered the best. He suggests that LBJ should be compared to Magic Johnson instead, due to their similar playing styles.
I think LeBron is right up there. I don’t think he’s the best, but I don’t think he has to be the best. I don’t think LeBron should be compared to Michael Jordan, either. I think LeBron should be compared to Magic Johnson. I think whoever started that s**t got it totally wrong. LeBron is no Michael Jordan.Shawn Kemp said on All the Smoke
Shawn Kemp is adamant that King James is not similar to Michael Jordan, and that Kobe Bryant is a more fitting comparison to Jordan. He believes James’ size and strength set him apart from Jordan, making comparisons between the two unfair.
Kemp’s comments add to the ongoing debate about LeBron’s place in NBA history. While some consider him the greatest of all time, others believe he still trails behind Jordan. Kemp’s unique perspective adds a fresh twist to the conversation.
Shawn Kemp draws parallels between Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan
Shawn Kemp had the opportunity to play against both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant in their prime. He noticed similarities between the two, including their physical traits and athleticism. Kemp believes Kobe had the raw potential to be a great player, similar to Jordan.
LeBron is no Michael Jordan. Kobe is more Michael Jordan, and LeBron is more Magic Johnson… I don’t see how you compare those two. He’s such a bigger and stronger person than Michael Jordan was.Shawn Kemp said
Kemp recalled his experiences playing against Kobe, including a memorable playoff series in 2002 where Kobe led the Lakers to a victory over Kemp’s Trail Blazers. Kemp tried to motivate his teammate Ruben Patterson, dubbed the “Kobe Stopper”, but ultimately realized that Kobe was unstoppable.
When I got the chance to go against Kobe, I wanted to test his a**. I used to have Ruben Patterson on my team, and I used to shake water. Kobe stopper. I used to go around and just gas these guys up to play against Kobe, but there was no answer to him.Shawn Kemp added
Kemp’s experiences playing against both Jordan and Kobe led him to compare the two players. He sees Kobe as the closest thing to Jordan, with similar skills and abilities.
