Shayna Baszler took on Ronda Rousey in what seemed to be her final match in the WWE. The two former MMA stars fought in an MMA rules match at SummerSlam 2023. The match was generally not well received by the wider audience. Additionally, the crowd also seemed relatively quiet throughout the entire match.

Shayna Baszler recently responded to these criticisms on X. She mentioned that the two of them knew it would go over the heads of fans who were witnessing the match live. The match simply was not for them. This message was a response to a fan who called the live audience ‘idiots.’ The fan claimed that the live audience did not understand the greatness they were witnessing.

While WWE had mentioned that their match would be fought under MMA rules, the company did not mention what these would be before the day of the event. Hence, the live audience had no way of figuring these out beforehand. While the rules were announced on-screen and by the commentators prior to the match, the live audience was not so lucky.

No rules were announced or displayed during the show at the Ford Field in Detroit. The Queen of Spades mentioned that they tried to get WWE to display a graphic or an announcer. However, when they did not get their wish, they knew it would go over everybody’s heads in the live audience.

Even the fans at home who knew about the rules considered the match boring and were glad when it ended. The general consensus was that such a stipulation simply did not work in a professional wrestling match. Shortly after her loss, Ronda Rousey announced that she was leaving the WWE.

Shayna Baszler recently took to social media with a claim that was considered bold by many of her fans. She said that she could defeat most men in a fight. Additionally, she mentioned that she would likely survive the space marine process better.

A fan called her out on this claim, suggesting that she wouldn’t be able to do so unless she cheated. Further, he mentioned that it wasn’t a slight towards her or her skill but simply because of genetics. The Queen of Spades was quick to respond and said that she had already trained alongside men for a living. Most men do not train to actually fight like she did. Additionally, her training alongside men gives her a serious advantage.

While the former NXT Women’s Champion is one of the most formidable women in the WWE, she has yet to establish a connection with the general audience. This is probably why she hasn’t had much success since moving to the main roster. The 43-year-old is yet to win a Women’s World Championship on Raw or SmackDown.
