UFC Bantamweight Champion Julianna Pena is on the top of her world when she secured the biggest victory of her career and along with that, pulled of the greatest upset when she submitted Amanda Nunes via rear naked choke in the second round of the co-main event at UFC 269. Pena did everything she told she was gonna do before the fight. Exchanged wild shots with Nunes pace in the second round, started winning the exchange with her brawler style, and eventually got Nunes taken down.
Now, both Nunes and Pena are heading for the rematch certainly, but first they’re going to coach opposite to each other in The Ultimate Fighter Season 30. Pena, who won Season 18 of the popular reality show produced by the UFC, was the first-ever female winner of the show. Now, with a remarkable career of championship status, it’s easily understandable that Pena’s strength and determination has come on a long way.
Julianna Pena believes that Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes fickle on their friendship
The Ultimate Fighter Season 30 will premier on May 3, therefore the shooting will begin as soon as possible. The women have faced each other off for the first time since their fight, and now before heading into the season, Pena gave an interview to ESPN Correspondent Brett Okamoto talking about her rematch with Nunes. On being asked what Nunes’ decision to leave American Top Team feels like right after she lost her last fight to Pena herself, this is what Pena had in mind.
“You can’t even go the gym anymore and train because you don’t know who has your back,“ says Pena brutally “Are these people talking about me? Are these people gunning for me? You know is this person really my friend or are they going to go tell somebody else about what I’m doing? And I think that happened to her and so she doesn’t trust anybody in there you know…
It’s like one second she’s training with Kayla Harrison and they’re the best of friends and the next second they’re talking about fighting each other for this mega million dollar fight and it’s like who needs enemies with friends like these you know and it just doesn’t make sense…” continues Pena.
